Lovely LocalPlacesOfInterest and a friendly welcome

This CL is very easy to get to, being just off the A40, but a word of warning if approaching from the Westbound A40, you need to turn right across a dual carriageway, so be prepared.  My sat nav giving me a 2 mile warning was very handy, but there are early  warning/direction signs. Thankfully, the 'gap' for turning was big enough to get my car and van out of the 'live' lane.  Arriving on site it is clearly marked with a CL sign and there is a chalkboard with names/pitch numbers as you drive into the field.  the field is pretty flat with short grass and was very firm, so no difficulty driving in and parking up, we used our levelling ramp, but I did spot some flat 'bricks in the hedge bottom that would have done if we hadn't got one. The pitches are all in the one field with easy to reach EHU, a fresh water tap and through a gate is a waste/elsan tipping point (liftable inspection cover) and a really handy, high pressure hose for rinsing out.  Andrew and Heather gave us a warm 'welcome' on the afternoon of our 1st day, as we arrived quite late and they rose considerably earlier than us, so left us in peace in the morning.  They were very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area.  The WiFi was very good on the site too.

The field is teeming with wildlife, swallows and housemartins swooping round all day, numerous other birds, including a regular Greater Spotted woodpecker and families of rabbits.  Despite its proximity to the A40, we had to strain to even hear it.  The views are lovely across the orchards and over through the trees we could just see Goodrich castle peeping through the trees. There is stacks to do within a very short drive, Raglan castle is spectacular, Symmonds Yat, Ross on Wye and Monmouth both lovely towns and the Forest of Dean.  We really liked the fact that we were given 'right to roam' over the CL owners estate, which is extensive and they provided a map with their boundary marked, strolling through the orchards and by the lakes was a really nice way to while away a few hours.  Our only regret is that we were only there for a weekend.  One I think we will definitely go to again, as it is such a nice site and so much to do.

Perfect

Just spent 8 very happy days here. Lovely welcome from Andrew and Heather who were extremely helpful. Easy access and level pitches. Could spend all day walking around the orchards and lakes, but not far from Ross, Monmouth and Forest of Dean. Will definitely return.  .

Hidden Gem!

I should really rate this site give this site a low rating to keep it to myself, but the reality is it's one of our favourite sites and we go back again and again.  It's just far enough off the beaten track to be quiet and with acres and acres of gorgeous orchards to walk around, and free Wifi, it's about as perfect as it gets.  Facilities are basic but all you need (no loos or shower).  Owners are extremely welcoming and so dog friendly (we have 6 so this is very important!)  If they could move a pub nearby I would move in full time - but you're just a short hop from Ross, pubs/shops etc, and the scenery makes it worth bringing your own ale and just enjoying being in the awesome surrounding countryside. Love it love it love it!

We will return...

We stayed here during Easter, although a wet start and pitch slightly muddy as soon as the sun appeared it drained swiftly. Owner very friendly and welcomed us to walk as, when, and where we pleased around the many and far reaching orchards. Only noise to be heard was of the tractor as the trees where sprayed, but just what you'd expect on a working orchard. Plenty to do and see in the surrounding area. Easy to find the sight and roomy entrance.

Comfortable, Convenient Relaxing

This site is located on the edge of the owner’s 200 acre estate.  The estate consists of numerous orchards, mainly apple and pear, arable farm land, woodland, a stream and several lakes.  Whilst on the site the owner allows members to walk the estate freely and enjoy this beautiful area.  Both the site and estate are extremely well maintained and contain an abundance of wildlife.  The owner Andrew Jackson is very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area, he will do all he can to ensure your stay is enjoyable.  In addition to the above free broadband wifi (not CC) is also available.  We really enjoyed our stay at Hollymount, it was very comfortable, convenient and relaxing, thereby meeting all of our needs, highly recommended.

A wonderful CL.

We stayed on this delightful site for five days at the end of March 2015. What an absolute pleasure. Easy to find just off the A40 with a written welcome and information board on arrival and a visit from the lovely Sally, who was looking after things while the Jacksons were on holiday, shortly after arrival. A very helpful information shed, wi fi as good as if we were home and stunning walks and views all over the estate through orchards and woodland with a couple of small lakes. We are keen wildlife watchers and I love wildlife photography so what a joy to find bird feeders right in front of our caravan window from which I took pictures of great spotted woodpeckers (daily), various finches and tits, jays...the list is endless. I also captured heron on the nearest lake and buzzards. An absolute pleasure which we were sad to end after only five days. We shall definitely return and although the end of some site work was a little intrusive noise wise this was almost at an end and must, surely, be so by now. Anyone going there at about the third week in April will have the added treat of pear blossom sight and scent wafting around them from the orchard immediately behind the site. Wish we were able to be there then!

Great CL

Had a great short stay of 3 nights over a long weekend in July

My wife was in a tennis match on the Sunday in nearby Ross so although not that far from where we live we made a break of it

Mr Jackson the owner was very helpful and friendly and we will definitely be returning

Only slight downside was traffic noise but not too bad and unavoidable anyway

Charges of £10 per night inc EHU  AND freeWiFi I was very happy with

Maybe the club should look at its WiFi charges

All in all we would thoroughly recommend it, and as a bonus the weather was superb

Super site

Easy access off the A40 and no problems getting into the field Fresh water and tidy rubbish bins on site and toilet emptying facility out of gate and near fruit trees Rabbits on site so dog owners beware! We only used this site as an overnight stop en route to Freshwater East CC site in Wales Farm buildings adjacent to the site- assume they were something to do with the orchard? Lovely lady came to collect our money and have a chat, Mr Jackson was on holiday but was super friendly on the phone when I booked Free Wi Fi  was a real bonus Information hut on site but quite cobwebby and damp unfortunately! CL vistors are allowed to walk around the estate, which was a REAL bonus for us and our 3 dogs, it is a HUGE area TV and phone signal great Intend to re-visit and explore the surrounding countryside

Nice Site, Shame about the grass

a really nice site. Mr Jackson was very helpful. the site is set on  pear and apple orchards which offer wonderful walks. the site is situated close to the A40, but you cannot hear any traffic noise. the only negative comment is the length of the grass. Mr jackson told us he always kept it at that length. about 6 to 8 inches Sorry Mr jackson it is far to long, not to bad when the weather is fine, but horrible when wet.... please mow more often and you will have a little gem of a site
