Lovely site
We enjoyed our brief stay at this wonderfully picturesque and tranquil site. It really is an idyllic spot and an ideal location for touring the southern Peaks.

Lighting
We very much enjoyed our stay and did lots of walking interspersed with lots of relaxing! We like the dog walk very much. Only one observation that could perhaps be improved. The roadways are not very well lit which made it a bit tricky taking our 2 dogs out at bedtime. However, we will be back!
Not for us
Carsington Water is a lovely clean site with lovely wardens and spotless facilities but unless you have a car or are a super fit walker or cyclist you may have difficulty in getting about. There is a bus service that passes the site 3 times a day but then you may find no bus running back. There are a few more options from the lovely Visitor Centre about 2.5 miles away. We did walk it both ways on one day and others we took our bikes, chained them up and then jumped on a bus. You can get to most places from there but be careful to check bus times back or you could find yourself stranded somewhere. The cycle around Carsington Water was about 9 miles including to site and back and well worth it. My only other niggle purely down to personal taste but i felt the site was very dark due to the tall trees that surrounded it. It felt quite claustaphobic and for this reason alone we would not return. Debbie Moseley / Motorhomer
Nice, good cycling
We enjoyed our stay here, friendly staff who left you to it.
We cycled a great deal including High Peaks and Tissington Trails from the site. I did some road riding too, there's plenty. Beware the cattle grid!
The water sports centre is easy enough to walk to and you can easily walk around the water from the site on good paths.
Had a good pitch well away from the toilet block which was good.
Definitely return.

Lovely caravan site
Just returned from a two night stay at carsington, had a lovely time. The pitches are well situated in glades and feel private. The toilet block and site are immaculately clean and the staff are really friendly and helpful. The site is perfectly located near to carsington water which has a circular walk approx 8 miles around which we really enjoyed. We ate at the knockerdown inn again staff were friendly and the food was good value for money and very substantial. Cannot fault this site and will definitely return.
Fantastic site
This is a lovely little site, nice pitches, most are reasonably level too. The facilities were great and the location was lovely, nice sunshine was a bonus.
Our only niggle was that one of the wardens' attitude was not the nice and friendly one we've come to expect, but that was the only detraction from an otherwise excellent weekend.
Overall a great site that we shall be returning to in the future.
Very relaxing site
Beautiful site a real credit to the wardens.IThink sometimes people just take them for granted and do not appreciate the hard work and commitment they put in to the site.So we can have the pleasure of staying on a beautiful site like Carsington.
Friendly sight
Welcoming wardens to a very floral site.Lovely clean and tidy site.Good area for dog walking and places to visit.Will visit again

Been to this site many times and its great!! 30 miles from home but seems a million miles from anywhere...
