Sunny Cayton Bay

Second visit to Cayton Village. Lucky to be there in beautiful weather. This is a very well cared for site, with spacious pitches, great modern facilities and a fantastic secure dog walk which our retriever loved. 20 minute walk to a beautiful beach which was never busy and close to Cayton which has a number of shops, pubs and a chippy. The only slight negative is there is currently housing being built adjacent to the site, which does cause some minor noise during the day, but nothing that would stop us returning.

Brilliant week at a first class site once again.

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at the Cayton Village club site. Once again it was a very friendly well kept site. The site is easy to get to and the entrance is nice a wide, only point here is that a little more space at the entrance would be good at busy times. Facilities are first class very clean and plenty of hot water. we will definitely be back at some point in the future.

Returned for our fourth visit

We returned home yesterday after 11 nights at the site Once again we enjoyed our visit and will be back. After reading the previous review I think we must have been on a different site. On our arrival at 1245 the site manager on the gate could not have been more helpful and cheerful. I only saw the mower out once around our pitch. There was some noise from the building works going on off the site. The main site dog walk was closed but on the upper site there is a dog walk around the perimeter in a wood land walk where dogs can be let off the lead as it is fenced in. The toilets were closed a bit longer than usual only because they had been left in a state by someone. I didn't see anyone having problems with their awnings in the wind on the main site. I would like to thank the Site Managers for the time and effort put into the Jubilee Party on Saturday. Im sure it was enjoyed by all who went (most of the site i think). And well done to all for all the money raised for the Lifeboats. All in all a very enjoyable stay. Thank You

I feel sad

It is with some dismay that I find myself writing a less than perfect review, it’s the first time I have done so. The good points. Clean site, excellent facilities but. Now the rest. We travelled 189 miles to get there and as most will know, the Yorkshire moors are not the easiest to negotiate, we had the audacity to actually arrive forty five minutes early. I was told that we couldn’t get in even though there were plenty of spaces and that I would have to wait, he even suggested that I turn my unit round and "go and have a cup of tea in morrisons" having visited Morrisons later, without my van in tow, I urge you not to take this advice, it’s hard enough getting a car in there let alone a towed caravan. He even to, Ld me that the club had changed the arrival iMessage from 12 to onepm as it was twelve, when I booked it was twelve, I don’t have ESP and no one had told me of the change. The man was clearly not happy but I stood my ground. We got in and pitched up, the pitch was good and spacious and close to the facilities and the playground, although on the way to the pitch I was chased by a member of staff who claimed that I was speeding and I was putting the kiddies in the playground at risk, there were no kiddies, as a police advanced driver I put safety firmly top of my driving. In the afternoon we were treated to the lawn mower, strimmer and motor mower, I know that it has to be done but around the same spot for two hours? This was to be an almost daily thing, the grass must grow really fast in Yorkshire. The toilets are closed from 10 in the morning until 12.30 every day so be prepared to cross your legs. Halfway through the week they were closed for five hours for a deep clean, you can use the ones on the top field but be prepared to drive they are miles away. Because of the building work in the adjacent field the dog walk is closed, I’m not really sure why as the builders have put a safety fence up. If you visit the shop push the door, the reason? It’s not exactly clear if it’s open or not because it’s usually dark inside, we saw a number of people arrive and leave empty handed. This is obviously not the sites fault but beware, it’s open plan and surrounded by fields, this means that the lightest of winds comes through gale force, we and several others lost our awnings whilst out, so please be aware. Sorry it’s long but I Hope informative, enjoy your stay and watch out for the mower.

Return visit

Back again, after only two weeks we returned and stayed on a serviced pitch again makes life so much easier. Yet again met by really helpful staff, once set up we just relaxed before our walk into filey on the Cleveland way the following day. Sunday unfortunately we had to return home, but while there we decided to book a week back end of August due to it being a great base for the area can't wait. Thanks again to the hard working staff for keeping a large site pristine 👍

RELAX AND ENJOY

Had an enjoyable short break at the recently remodelled Cayton Village Club Campsite and really appreciated the open space and relaxing atmosphere. The location will only improve as the newly planted trees and shrubbery mature, helped along by the TLC provided by our hosts. We were booked to stay for four nights on a Standard pitch with awning (White peg),but on arrival I spotted a vacant Premium serviced pitch (Black No 94), which I knew would take the sun until late in the evening. A word with the personable receptionist, who had just booked us in, and the deal was done, although we could only stay there for two nights because that pitch had already been booked in advance. We moved our caravan, as arranged, two days later, and lit on the nearest vacant pitch, which was No 81 - a blue peg (we were originally on a white peg). No matter, none of this was too much trouble for the staff. From arrival to departure our hosts were friendly, helpful, and efficient. The campsite itself has two safe play areas for children and a pleasant path around the site for dog walking. The facilities are spotlessly clean and two blocks mean at least one is in use while the other is closed for cleaning. Mobile food vans arrive on selected evenings to take the pressure off cooking. We took advantage of a pizza on arrival Thursday evening. If you want to visit off site without your own transport the village is a short walk away and there is a bus stop immediately outside the Campsite entrance. The effort put into improving the Campsite has really paid dividends and we will certainly return again soon.

What a Gem

We stayed here for 7 nights and wished we could have stayed for longer! We were greeted with friendly smiles and helpful advice from the wardens, we booked a premium pitch and chose the lower section of the park which was well worth the extra money, lovely and quiet & well away from the building site noise (beyond CMC control) which affects one corner of the site, the wardens warned of this on arrival. Overall the park was spotlessly clean and well kept which is full credit to the staff who work tirelessly to keep it this way. Really impressed with all the facilities, all brand new and built to a very high standard . Perfectly placed for visiting Scarborough, Filey & Whitby. The dog walk around the site was perfect, fenced off and secure for off lead walking, bins at both gates & mulch laid underfoot. We'll definitely visit again, thanks CMC spot on.
