Good location and has potential - but needs refurbishment

This is a huge site and has the potential, given its location, to be a prime Club site. Unfortunately it has some way to go. The two wardens are friendly and do their best, but they are clearly overstretched looking after such a large site. Many areas need improvement. The general layout is poor; pitches are rather cramped and badly laid out in some areas, and you have to cross pitches to reach the toilet blocks. The state of the roadways is rather poor, and the toilet blocks are in need of major refurbishment. Although adequate, they are showing their age, and the floor of the gents was at times rather filthy, with dirt trodden around -- although it has to be said that this is largely the fault of the users. At one point there was no hand cream in either dispenser, and the loo roll had run out in one of the toilets. Clearly it's not enough for the wardens to visit the toilet blocks once a day; regular checks are required to make sure that all is in order. On the plus side, it's a peaceful site - there was no intrusive noise from the nearby road, and the birdsong was amazing. It's also ideally located for walks along the coast path to either Scarborough or Filey. Local facilities are limited though. The local pub has stopped doing food, and the fish and chip shop wouldn't win any awards for quality in our view. Given a major overhaul to bring it up to Club site standards, this site has the potential to be one of the prime sites in the network. However it has some way to go yet.

Great site and excellent location for visiting Yorkshire Coast and North Yorkshire Moors

I had read a couple of reviews before coming, we booked before we knew it was going to be a club site. All I can say is some people haven’t stayed in some of the sites I have, this site was very good in my opinion. We stayed from 23/04 to 03/05. Yes some of the original pitches could be considered a little on the small side but we stayed on The Laurals pitches which I think are newer. They are fully serviced hard standing with loads of room for van awning and car, you also get a large grass area adjacent to the hard standing. The toilet blocks were good, very clean and yes possibly could do with a refresh in the older areas of the site but they have sufficient toilets and showers, plenty of hot water and separate washing and laundry areas. The grounds are well maintained and exceptionally clean and it was very peaceful during our stay. Security is good with auto number plate recognition for entry. The site roads are made from compacted road planings but at 5mph you don’t need the smoothness of a motorway. I have absolutely no qualms about recommending this site and if you don’t find it satisfactory perhaps I could recommend a good hotel as an alternative.

Lovely site for visiting the coast

Please dont let one review put you off this lovely little site yes the toilet blocks are a bit dated but they were spotless when we went and thats more important that they are clean. The wardens were out daily to help keep the site running smoothly. Cayton bay a nice walk away altho be warned the paths to the bay are steep its easier to head down Lucy’s shack way and we made it down and back up with 2 dogs and a pram :) Great addition to east coast sites.

Amazing potential

Stayed at the site second week of Easter holidays. Weather was poor but due to site location we were able to get into Scarborough, Filey, Bridlington and Pickering with ease. Site is quite dated but was very clean, full marks to the site management team. Sad that the dog walk was not open but maybe that is one thing that needs sorting out. Overall the site has good potential to come up to usual club standards. Seems to be some seasonal pitch holder who were less than happy at the changes but then we all have problems with change to a greater or lesser degree.

Easter stay 2018

Needs a lot investing in to this to bring it up to caravan club standards. Not enough service areas, roads around site are not very good at all, pitches are small. Showers/toilets are OK but not caravan club standard. We would return but not for a few years.

What a great location, everything on the doorstep.

Enjoying our first stay at this fabulous site. Great location with a short walk to the beach. Local bus stops right outside the gate to take you to Scarborough, Filey or Bridlington. The staff on site are extremely friendly, welcoming, and do everything they can to make your stay memorable. We will be back many times. Thank you
