Expensive Car Park Next To Building Site

The site has had a major redevelopment from last year most of which now seems finished. Overall the facilties are all there and if the Wardens can get a grip of managing the site it will be very nice place in a few years when the grass grows and the trees are more that a six feet tall. I do wish the club would consider privacy hedges in these large sites, it makes all the difference. There is a major house building project right next to the site very noisy all day and a fair amount of dust thrown up. This will go on for sometime I believe. The wardens were unhelpful to the point of being rude and complained of staffing issues when asked why the toilet block had been closed, again. An expensive site, we will avoid in future.

Bank Holiday Weekend

I have to agree with previous reviewers. The staff were exceptional. Facilities are outstanding. Great location. Bang in between Scarborough and Filey. Cayton bay also great for walking. Got to say tho, the new housing estate that will be built around the perimeter of two sides of the CC club site is going to be an issue for some time yet as they are still putting in the sewerage pipes in the ground. There will be significant noise pollution for a guesstimate of a couple of years. The club may want to consider reducing pitch fees for adjacent pitches. But I suspect the whole site will be affected in some way.

A great Easter weekend

Stayed here for 3 nights over the Bank holiday weekend. Lovely site with warm welcomes from the all the wardens. Bus stop right outside the site going to Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington. Pizza van every Thursday evening and Fish n Chip van every Saturday evening. Drive to the nearest beach only 5 mins away. Unspoilt and with golden sand, Cleveland Coastal walk. Could'nt have asked for more. Only problem is that, to get to the beach it's quite a steep hill. Not good for prams or people with mobility problems. Scarborough is only 10 mins drive away. Which we visited one late afternoon. Free parking after 6pm. Grounds and facilities are well kept. I would come across a few dog poos in grass areas, due to owners not looking at what their dogs are doing. Wasn't sure if to complain to wardens, as it's not their responsibility to pick dog poo up. Good playground for the little ones. The staff laid on a few events for the kids, over the Easter weekend. We were lucky that it was the Bank hoilday weekend, as there is a new housing development just along side the club. So we weren't effected with noisy building works. Not sure when that will be completed. Moblie phone signal was abit touch and go. Loved it how there's Glamping on site. Great for family that not have a motorhome, who can join us next time. All in all, had a great time on this club site and the kids loved it.

Absolutely beautiful

We have recently returned from a 5 night stay here. This place is absolutely amazing. It has everything you want as a holiday maker, beach close by, bus stops right outside the entrance, immaculate facilities, and I’m extremely picky, a great site shop, and most of all some of the best staff I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. All staff are professional yet approachable, and it’s clear they too have high standards. I’ve read the reviews about the building site, however prior to booking we looked at the website and all the info was there! As for the housing development at the back, we’ll I didn’t realise the club were responsible for that, oh wait, they are not! As for the work men working from 7 I’m the morning till 7 at night, well I personally think that’s a credit to them and the club! I wish I could find workmen as dedicated! A job needed to be done, and it will benefit all those who decide to give this special site a go. Well done team Cayton, I can’t wait to come back!

On holiday in 'No Man's Land' on a building site!

We stayed for 4 nights, booked onto a hardstanding pitch (HP) with no awning. As soon as you arrive the onging building work hits you as it's by the entrance. We were shown on the map where the pitches we could use were, some located right in front of said building work, so that was a no no. The other seven pitches were at the farthest part of the site on quite a slope. We were shocked that such a vast site of almost 200 HP pitches that only 14 were 'no awning' ones. The top 2 were taken by units that were obviously stored so we opted for one in the middle. This area was so unkempt, it was obvious the grass hadn't been cut in ages and was full of weeds, there were loads of broken branches and twigs and the debris from pruning of the trees all around us. We had to remove several branches from the gravel before we could park. Due to the location of the pitch marker it was obvious we would't get any sun as we were in our own shadow all day! If pitch marker had been on the opposite corner that problem would be solved. Despite our best efforts with our levellers we were on quite a slope, the gravel was quite pitted in places-this reinforced our opinion that these pitches had not had any maintenance done for quite a long time. The amount of broken branches and twigs lying around could be a danger for young children if there were to take a tumble on the grass, serious injury waiting to happen! We really felt like we were in No Man's Land, the poor relations as we surveyed the neat, pristine pitches around us with their mown grass-all very nice. Added to this we had the noise from another building site adjacent to us, a new housing estate; so you could assume that noise will be going on for next year at least. The constant rumble of diggers, JCBs beeping backwards and forwards all day was awful. There was no indication of this potential disturbance when we booked. As you'd expect the facilities were good and very clean, the staff we encountred were all friendly. However we feel this site is just too big, it's bland and characterless. Not a flower in site, not even a daffodil! There is an excellent bus service which stops right outside the site every 20 minutes to Scarborough with connections to Whitby & Bridlington...which we did most days to get away from the builders and our awful pitch. It's going to take this site several years before it becomes even remotely attractive. If you are thinking of going here, our advice would be book a pitch with awning, even if you haven't got one, otherwise you be dumped in the back of beyond like we were. Will not be visiting this site again.

Great campsite if you dont mind being in the middle of a building site

We booked the premium pitch which was great with running water, drainage and plenty of space. Privacy screening is non existent at the moment as the hedge has just been planted and will be a few years before this is established. Facilities for those that want them are immaculate and new. The negative side to our stay was that the following morning we were awoken at about 7:30 to the sound of diggers and their annoying reversing loud beep sound. There were new pitches being constructed in the middle of the site something we were not informed of when we booked. Secondly there is a large housing estate being constructed next to the site. Unfortunately we left after after just 1 night. Are should have stayed a week but this would not have been a peaceful holiday.

Great New year

We had a lovely stay here for a few days over New Year. We have stayed here quite a few times since the site was reopened by M&CC and decided to book a New Years Eve celebration dinner at The Farriers just around the corner from the site. The meal was expensive but as it was also our Wedding Anniversary we didn’t mind. We had a great night and the wardens also added a special touch by delivering a small bottle of red and white wine to each MH and Caravan earlier in the afternoon. We walked to the beach each day with our dog and really enjoyed our stay overall. Last summer a friend joined us and stayed in one of the pods, the weather was hot and sunny so we had a glorious time then too. Many thanks to the wardens for all they do. Elaine and Rick Nolan & Paddy 😊

Another great stay

We have just returned from our second visit this year to Cayton Village spending the New Year there. Lovely site with friendly and helpful wardens who gave out wine to each occupied pitch on New Year's eve which was a lovely touch. Tried the fish and chips from the village which was lovely and freshly cooked to order. We have booked for Easter as we love the site and the, area is great to walk from the door. Recommend the Bike and Boot Inn in Scarborough for dog friendly cafe for drinks and snacks.

Superb

We arrived at the site and was met by an extremely helpful, polite warden who 20 mins later when I had a problem in setting up, came out immediately and assisted in testing the electrical point, my cables etc to get us up and running. Thank you to him and the female warden who also came to assist. Now positives about the site other than the warden: Immaculate, clean toilet and shower facilities. Large, flat, pitches and the whole of the site kept spotlessy clean. Ideal location for visiting the local area. We went to Filey, Scarborough, and Whitby. Right next to a village where were lovely pubs, shops etc. Now the negatives: There are none. Everything was absolutely perfect and we will be going back for certain. Try it, a lovely site
