What a great site

We have just spent a week at this site and cannot wait to get back there. It is perfectly situated for so many things including, of course, Cheddar Gorge (10 minute walk away) The staff were absolutely brill and nothing was too much trouble. Even when a whole host of people turned up an hour early (obviosly didn't read the info or the confirmation email) it was handled with so much efficiency and goodwill. What a great club site. Tony

Not just a stopover....

We stopped here twice in June on the way to and from the West Country, but it turned out to be a place well worth spending a few days. The staff were very friendly and helpful and work hard to make stays a good experience. Flat site and facilities good. We used the accessible facilities as my husband has Alzheimer's and we had a waste pipe blockage in our motorhome, so it was a boon for both of us. We enjoyed the tourist experience in Cheddar Gorge but also the rest of the village and scenic walks nearby, all without moving the van, so very relaxing. We even managed the Cheddar Gorge walk; views from the top are amazing! We discovered the local Sainsbury's has a very good pharmacy. Would definitely stay here again.

Pleasant stay

We stayed for a week at Cheddar caravan site. Overall we had a lovely time. The site is pleasant and the staff friendly and helpful. The location is excellent and there is quite a bit to do in the area including obviously Cheddar Gorge. The toilet block is clean if a little dated unfortunately the wristband system just does not seem to work, this isn’t the only site with this issue as all of the sites we have stayed at this year have the same problem of people just not following the rules which lets be honest aren’t difficult. There is no dog walk on site but there are fields nearby. The approach to the site is on a single track lane which is a bit tricky even without a caravan behind you especially if you get a car coming from the other direction. Although there is a couple of small issues with the access and wristbands I would definitely stay here again.

Great Week!

We had a lovely week in June, our first out this year! We visited Cheddar and did Jacob's Ladder. Glastonbury and did The Tor. Lacock Abbey and Fox Talbot Museum. Bath and Weston-super-Mare. A Wonderful week. We feel the Caravan Club are doing everything they can to adhere to the Covid rules during this pandemic, but unfortunately there are some people, just a few, who feel the need to move bins to block the showers, while others wait inside queuing up for the showers and more people wait outside to use the toilets! Also a few people forgetting to return their wristbands to the bucket, so some of us wait outside while there is no one inside, or visa versa! Hey ho, it's all trial and error, but we met some good friendly people and visited some fantastic places. Well done Caravan Club! :)

Great location and good food locally

A lovely welcome on arrival and sparkling clean facilities. the band system working well -though at other sites they have had separate hooks for loos and showers which works well when you just want to nip in for a quick wee! Great location for easy walk into Cheddar and a bit further into the Gorge itself. if you ignore the 'blackpoolesque; gift shops its stunning and the cheese is good too! We ate at the big pub on the main street and although a little expensive the food was very good. Also had lunch at the Italian in the Gorge -also very nice. We also cycled (most of) the Strawberry line - a hard cycle and not all on the old railway as we thought it would be, still worth a trip to get distracted by the Railway pub near the Thatchers Brewery to try the local cider.

Nice location

First time at this site, wardens extremely helpful and welcoming. Site is perfectly located for Cheddar village itself a real bonus when if like us you are in a motorhome. Pleasant off-road walk to the village, which is quite 'touristy' but with plenty of pubs and restaurants and not forgetting the obligatory Cheddar cheese shop. There is a well stocked Sainsbury's within easy walking distance of the site. The facilities on site were as always are well maintained although a little dated but because of the restricted use during Covid-19 rules we used our shower and toilets. A visit to the nearby reservoir is worth a visit, a nice walk or cycle ride around the perimeter of this stretch of water. We found we had good tv and internet coverage whilst at the site.

Convenient for area sightseeing

This site is very conveniently located close to the village of Cheddar – a short walk to the village centre and a little further on is the Gorge and caves. The site is compact – the maximum number of pitches have been squeezed into the space available. There is a small facilities block - with limited access due to Covid precautions whilst we were there. But as most people use their own van or motorhome facilities, this is not an issue. TV is available via a booster point on the EHU bollards – note that it’s necessary to re-tune the TV after plugging in the cable because the boosted signal is provided from BBC / ITV South West, not the local service (BBC/ITV West). WiFi was patchy whilst we were there, but the system was in the process of being upgraded so better quality should be available soon. As always the Wardens were welcoming and friendly and site kept in a very tidy condition.

Lovely site with great staff

Just returned from this site after a weekend stay. I managed to get a late availability stay. The staff were really kind and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. They were really informative and helped us to make the most our our time in Cheddar. They worked really hard to keep the site spotless and safe in these very strange times. I would definitely stay again without hesitation. The biscuit lady

A well kept site

Our first visit to this site was a very pleasant one, we were greeted by a very friendly warden and despite the procedures put in place to comply with Covid regulations we were soon checked in and ready to set up. The site was very clean and tidy and the toilets were spotlessly clean, the wardens were working tirelessly to keep the pitches maintained in excellent order. Next to the site is the Route 26 National Cycle path sited on the old Strawberry Line railway track which is tarmac and the safest way to walk into the village for shops and pubs and of course The Gorge. A good mixture of hardstanding and grass pitches with two service points and a Motorhome service point too. We would definitely return to this site again.

Great site

A first stay of 2021 and such a lovely place to do it. Wardens were very friendly. Pitch flat with plenty of space. Views south towards the hills were stunning - fantastic to wake up to with a noisy dawn chorus echoing around the site. Facilities were good, very clean, but a bit of queuing at peak times accommodate social distancing. Centre of Cheddar village only 10 mins away with the superb Bath Arms for an excellent meal first night, with more pubs towards the Gorge for the rest of the weekend. A great place to stay,
