Noisy kids on bikes

Was here a few days last week on pitch 19 (millionaires row) as the warden called it... But was right next yo the washing facilities.. Omg tbh people need to consider that their noise level in there is up an octave.. And been considerate to people pitched near by.. This was totally throughout the day and evening... Next was how fast kids wee going around on bikes.. And going the wrong way around..  We didn't have the best weather so WiFi was awful.. No signal either for TV... The park itself is lovely the wardens work hard tbf.. And the toilets lovely and clean The walk up into cheddar is lovely. We been here a few times.. We will be back tho.. But the thing with kids needs addressing..

Lovely stay!

Had 6 nights here and really enjoyed it. We hadn’t been to the area before. Loved how the site is in cheddar itself so 10-15 minute walk into cheddar and cheddar gorge. Two supermarkets and two pubs with lots of takeaways to choose from. We visited Well- what a lovely picturesque place and Bristol. Did the hilltop walk around the gorge great views Site itself clean and tidy , toilet and shower facilities clean and despite fully opened were never busy

Some Drawbacks

I will try to be very honest with my comments . The good , the wardens work very hard to maintain the site in tip top condition , the facilities , from what I saw due to CV precautions , were clean and fresh , hard standings are level and firm (rock pins required to peg out awning ) and well drained and large enough for even the biggest outfit . The site is within 10/15 mins walk to Cheddar village along a dedicated foot/cycle path avoiding the narrow road which is devoid of footpaths , in the village are both Sainsbury’s and Tesco , at the time we went both were struggling to stock fresh salad .Although a very good butcher can be found opposite the market cross . A large area for dog walking is nearby with a stream for dogs to paddle in . Not so good , whilst the hard standings were roomy the grass boarders were meagre , leaving little area to sit out , there is very little or no shade from trees etc , only from the tall hedges, so bringing an umbrella is essential for shade There are only 2 water service points , one at each end of the site so people pitched in centre of the outer rows have a bit of a walk to fill water carriers , and empty grey water away . More strange is the placing of the motorhome service point , it is directly outside the exit barrier , if there is a motorhome at the service point draining tanks etc , exit from the site is obstructed and difficult with a caravan . Who ever thought this was a good idea has obviously not observed how ridiculous the layout is . The placing of the touch pads for the barriers is poor as well , requiring a stretch to make contact then leaving it tight to avoid contact with the posts Unfortunately there are STILL members who think speed limits are for others , and the rule regarding dogs being on leads also are for others as well as letting their dog defecate on site and not clearing up also is ok . My view is these people should have their membership cancelled , and asked to leave site forthwith .

Short stopover

Second visit here, just a 2 day stop over.... fabulous site, decent location too....I did cycle the Strawberry Way cycle route to Yatton, nice if you fancy a mainly off road bike ride, you will need a gravel bike, mountain bike or city touring bike due to the surface... plenty of places to stop for refreshments on the ride. Facilities are as expected here motorhome point is a little fussy if anyone else needs to leave the site.

Wonderful weather

Just had 10 nights at this site. The weather was amazing, too hot really, the site was beautifully kept and being within walking distance of the town of Cheddar it is great for motorhome owners. My only criticism, and this is not the club's fault, but we had two instances of units that played their radios quite loud throughout their stay. I wish people would understand not everyone is fond of their genre of music and it can be quite intrusive. I didn't want to complain to the wardens, although it got got very near the point of saying something. It was very busy with units coming and going so it is definitely not a peaceful site. Would we return, not sure

say no to pitch 38

Cheddar is a lovely quiet site so close to the village & the gorge it was just such a shame we was allocated Pitch38 which basically isnt a pitch at all - parked parallel to the road with only 18” to sit outside your caravan/motorhome Im sad to say this ruined our holiday which we had so been looking forward to after a challenging year. So disappointed & wardens although sympathetic couldn’t give us another pitch as fully booked I have logged my complaint but no reply yet!! Such a shame as otherwise the site was great

Our second visit won't be our last

While much of this site's attraction stems from a location close to the village, with easy access to both a couple of small supermarkets and the shops, cafes, pubs and general charm of the village and, of course, the Gorge and caves, credit must also go to the wardens who clearly keep the place in top condition and who afforded us (once again) a warm welcome. COVID-19 measures were explained although we tend to use our onboard washing facilities, and a pleasant few days and nights were spent in peaceful, attractive surroundings. We shall, no doubt, return

What a great site

We have just spent a week at this site and cannot wait to get back there. It is perfectly situated for so many things including, of course, Cheddar Gorge (10 minute walk away) The staff were absolutely brill and nothing was too much trouble. Even when a whole host of people turned up an hour early (obviosly didn't read the info or the confirmation email) it was handled with so much efficiency and goodwill. What a great club site. Tony
