First class

This was our first time here and we’ll definitely be back. The fully serviced pitch we were on and the facilities on site were excellent. The toilet block we used nearest to our pitch was kept very clean throughout. We arrived on Thursday to a very warm welcome from the reception staff and were given all appropriate information about the site and surrounding area. It was very quiet when we arrived for our week stay but became extremely busy for the King's coronation week-end ( over 100 new arrivals) and then quiet again for our last few days. The staff seemed to cope admirably with the large week-end influx and nothing affected our enjoyment of the site. We had our e-bikes with us and as National Trust members we couldn’t have asked for a better area for bike riding, than Clumber Park. The bike storage facility also allowed us to lock up our bikes safely and give us great peace of mind throughout our stay. We would highly recommend a visit to this NT property. Apart from bike riding around Clumber Park we did not venture too far but did manage visits to Workshop street market, Retford, Ollerton, and Sherwood Forest all of which we enjoyed. The weather was very changeable with rain off and on throughout but this did not have a detrimental affect on our stay.

Good but..

Our first visit since the refurbishment. The wardens are great and hard working. Food vans good. We paid extra for one of the new premium pitches - slightly larger pitch and a picnic bench which was handy. But it was advertised as having a privacy hedge - this is a joke as it has only recently been planted so you basically have 6 or 7 twigs on each side of the pitch which afford no privacy whatsoever. The Club needs to make this clear or drop the reference to privacy hedges until they are more established - probably 5 years' time. Great idea re only closing half of the toilet blocks whilst cleaning - such a simple idea! It needs notices to that effect on the 2 doors though. Finally, the Wi-Fi - very poor planning by the Club to drop the previous contract and not have the new Wi-Fi already lined up. This is especially so at this site which has no 4G coverage whatsoever or phone signal. It does have a hotspot near to reception which is good but hardly convenient. Overall good site and great wardens.

Great improvements

Love the new facilities and still a fab site. Love the peace, walking, friendly staff and food vans. Will be better when the Wi-Fi is sorted but we were made aware before we arrived so no real issues

PEACEFUL WEEKEND

We have been staying at this site for more than 25 years and have seen lots of chsnges and improvements. There are different pitch types to suit everyone, and there are plenty of things to do. The Wardens were welcoming as usual, and are always visible if you need help or have questions. The refurbishment and changes to the shower blocks look great, but I wonder whether the designer has actually used these showers. For myself at 5'2" tall, the fixed shower head is useless - It is fixed at around 8' high and has a very wide spray. At my height, the water sprays everywhere except on my head! This is the case on other sites as well. We were also surprised to find that there were only 2 ladies showers available in each shower block, on a site more than half full, at the start of the Easter holidays and we had to queue each morning - 40 minutes on Saturday! The notice said it was to save energy, but the heating and lights seemed to be on in the closed section. Another great weekend, and we will be back but please consider more height adjustable showers across all sites.

On Par with Chatsworth Site if not better

We have been here a couple of times in the last few weeks and can honestly say the location of the site is perfect and the the staff are great. You have access through a coded gate onto the Clumber estate and the walks are amazing with hardly seeing anyone which was great as we were training our new puppy. If I could change just one thing it would be the booking in process and this is where Chatsworth has it right. At Clumber you have to question to check in which can take a while when busy where as at Chatsworth they check your name at your vehicle give you a map and off you go. Once you have your pitch you then go to reception and finish checking in and getting your key/fob which helps. This means no que plus whilst the pitch is being set up the other partner goes to check in 👍 But anyway the site is a must and we will be going back many more times. The walk to the community run pub in Hardwick village is lovely but they are only open Friday Saturday and Sunday for 3 hours.

Tranquility in the middle of the forest

Our first visit to the refurbished Clumber Park and what a fantastic facility it is for club members. We were welcomed by friendly staff who always had time for a brief chat as they went about their daily tasks to keep the site facilities in pristine condition. We had four nights at the end of February so our expectations on weather weren't great but even though there were lots of showers we somehow got out and about and managed to avoid most of them. Nearby Clumber Park is about 2 miles from the site with loads of unspoilt parkland and woods. Remember this is a National Trust Property so unless you're a member you will have to pay their admission charges. However there is direct access to the forest from the site with no charges and there are miles of forest tracks to explore either on foot or bike. Other than the Clumber Park estate we visited the Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre about 8 miles from the site which has a lot of history surrounding the adventures of the mythical 'Robin Hood' and it also has miles of woodland trails to explore with a nice cafe when you finish. No entrance fee but £5.00 to park your car. The new facilities are magnificent and with the added bonus that only one half of them are closed at a time for cleaning meaning there is always access to the toilet. Worksop is about 5 miles away with all the main shops and facilities if you feel the need to visit them. We shall be certainly return being less than 3 hours from home. Our only issue was we arrived at about 12:45 and there was no access to the site before 1 o'clock so I had to complete a three point turn with the caravan. Fortunately there was plenty of space to manage this manoeuvre. Note to myself - REMEMBER DON'T ARRIVE BEFORE 1 o'clock

Friendly welcoming site, great facilities

First time stay at Clumber Park over Christmas 2022. Quiet, pleasant stay. Solo camper but everyone friendly. Wildlife fun to watch from window. Good dog-friendly location with plenty of walking opportunities straight from site. New shower block very clean and warm. Great laundry facilities. Useful calor gas and grocery essentials available in site store. Thanks to wardens for friendly, helpful support. Very happy with experience. Will return later in the year.

No working EV points.

We stayed for a week in November in our Motor home, also taking our Electric car. The site clearly stated newly installed EV charging points were available. On arrival I asked when the EV points would be in use as they had Out of Order notices stuck on each one, I was told they didn't work and had never worked from day one. She also said they (the wardens) kne w they wouldn't work as there was no phone signal on the site. She thought a new cable was going to be installed sometime to see if that helped. I pointed out it didn't help me that week and surely something should be added to the site details about these things? This gave me two shocks in one conversation as we were not aware of the lack of any phone signal either. We had to pay £11 each for Wi-Fi as my mother was in hospital and I needed to be contactable at all times. The site itself was lovely, tidy, and all the wardens were extremely friendly. I do, however, wonder how they can justify the high site fees.

Great site and facilities

We stayed on the Clumber Park site for 4 nights with our motorhome the first weekend in December 2022. Our serviced pitched was excellent. The staff were helpful and the new facilities block was outstanding. We were joined by family members with their mortorhomes over the weekend and the walk around the lake was enjoyed by all. We will return!

My favourite site

Visited twice since the refurb and brilliant what has been done here. As many have mentioned the new facilities are great and the fact they are always open and kept spotlessly clean is really good and a testament to the hard work of the wardens. There have been a few negative comments regarding wardens in other reviews and all I can say is they must have met different wardens to the ones we have seen on recent trips and over the past few years so not quite sure about that. All I would say, it is a great site that I would recommend and we have further visits already booked!
