facilities at cliumber park

great location and setting however its a shame there was a toliet block closed no sign of any work being carried out.Shop did not have hardly any supplies which was bad as no shops near by.Will come back again but am surprised there are so many hard standing pitches which need to be imspected for debri ie glass we need more grass1

Nice site

Climber park site is a very peaceful, well maintained site. Wii-fi was very poor though. Wardens are new and very friendly - good luck to them for the future. Only one toilet block was open as we were told this is due to refurbishment. Didn't actually see any action going on there though! Unfortunately because of this, I had to queue up for a shower at 7.30 a.m! We had hoped there would be a bus stop near to the site but sadly not. We have a moterhome and used it to get around. Good parking at Sherwood Forest for it. We used tram and ride on a Sunday to get into Nottingham. (Park & ride not open Sunday's) There was a height barrier so were unable to get into the car park but luckily found a layby near it, so left moterhome there. Free parking at the climber park visitor centre if you show your caravan club pitch marker - saves £6.80. Would recommend this site

Wifi

Lovely weekend, but oh please sort out the wifi. We had a strong signal but unable to connect. Air angel said it would sort it out,but they didn't. No change on this nice the last time we visited two years ago

first weekend of the year.

Had a lovely weekend at Clumber. A very convenient site for us just 45 minutes from home. The site is in a great location for bike rides and walking the dogs. The only downside to this stay was the fact that there was only toilet block whether this was for renovation but it seemed to tie in with the fact that only hard standing pitches were available.Retford and Workop are small towns close by, good for picking up supplies.

Let down by bad Wifi Again !!

As always a peaceful stay at Clumber park. New wardens seem very nice and welcoming , site as always was spotless But...the club must sort out the WIFI situation , its been on site for two years now and its still rubbish, i dont agree with paying for wifi as it should be free, i can go in Mcdonalds (as an example) spend 99p and get free wifi !! If im going to have to pay for it i would expect it to be a perfect service.....please sort this out and make it a perfect stay at the best site in the area...rant over

Clumber Park

First outing of the year and once again this site did not disappoint. Clean we'll run with excellent facilities and for us with 2 golden retrievers brilliant walks. WIFI not working and should be addressed before season kicks off in anger but a minor issue for us.

spring in clumber

A great vist wfi down but not end of the world . location is wonderful. Clean tidy so quiet its great a great site so many walks great for dogs

Needs updating

Our local site and we go 3-4 times per year. Firstly the positives - great warm welcome, lots of space, great location for walks/biking and good to see the kids football pitch has been re-covered for this season. However....It really is about time the club spent some money on the toilet blocks, especially the showers. It's starting to show signs of ageing - leaking hoses, dripping pipes and cracked tiles. No wi-fi either, I know it's not essential but when you have no phone signal it's the only chance of keeping in touch with anyone should you need to. I know the club is trying to address this but it's been going on since last year... Will be back later in the year, it would just be good to see some profits ploughed back into the facilities over the winter before the high season started again.

Local Gem

As new members, we went to Clumber Park as the first outing of the year having brought the van out of hibernation. Having travelled for 30 minutes we arrived to a warm welcome. We appreciated being able to choose our own pitch and having parked the car beside the van it did not move until leaving. With lots of walks and plenty of cycle routes it made a relaxing but energetic weekend. Just proves you do not have to travel far to get away from it all. Will be making return visits!

Lovely site, but isolated.

My regular beef about sites is that they are too often surrounded by trees. So it was that I ventured to Clumber Park in the full knowledge that the gloom I feel when encased in forest would inevitably descend. As it was, however, I got a surprise; the site has lots of big wide open spaces and, consequently, although the boundaries are certainly tree lined – as one might expect in the midst of Sherwood Forest – I did not suffer with the usual claustrophobia that arboreal living gives me. The site was unexpectedly bright, open and not at all melancholic. I had no complaint at all about any of the facilities which were all up to par (although only one toilet block was open they looked pretty much identical from the outside) and the wardens were very friendly and helpful. The road immediately leading up to the site could do with a little attention but really there is nothing to complain about the quality of the site or the facilities. The children’s playground looks lovely too for the younger ones. The exception to these positives was the Wi-Fi. I sometimes have to rely on this to deal with issues that crop up in my work and so I was concerned to see a sign “Sorry no Wi-Fi” on arrival. In fact, it was working, but it was patchy and very slow. I managed to do what I had to do, but when one has paid for this service it is unacceptable that it so often is not available. I know some members pooh-pooh Wi-Fi and get all superior about its needless presence - as once people did about electricity or telephones. But one day soon it will be as essential as an electric hook-up and this is something that must be sorted. I had no (Vodafone) phone signal here either, not even a glimmer until I moved some distance from the site, but one can’t blame the CC for that. The TV points on the bollards gave a decent signal but even that was patchy. The site is very cut off from any civilisation. Worksop is the nearest town but it is still just over four miles by the shortest route for cyclists or walkers. By car it is well over 6 miles. There are no shops or other facilities close by. Because of this, the site was not to my personal liking. I like to be reasonably close to towns or villages which I can explore and visit. Here, without a car to go further afield, you are really limited to Clumber Park itself, which I found really rather dull, or Worksop if you have a bike or like long walks (but I found the town as glum as its name suggests). Overall I could see no reason to be here for more than a couple of days. But I know this is a very personal view and many would take a different stance. Because the site is plainly popular. Even on a very cold weekend in March the number of late Friday arrivals was considerable with lots of families. For those looking for peace and quiet, relaxing in the van, or out of it in good weather, and walking in forests, this place is ideal. I accept I’m in a minority, but it’s not for me.
