Favourite site

As always a great relaxing long weekend, great staff and fantastic site. spotless facilities. only downside this trip was the speed of some vehicles on site, even though signs and speed bumps.

What a super site.

First time at Kendal but won't be the last. A really great site, good dog walking [which is one of our priorities] A warm welcome from a very helpful team of wardens. Will certainly be going back again.

"You're my favourite"

To coin a phrase! Just back from our 5th visit this year and already booked number 6. The wardens are the best we've come across, because we went outside school holidays also managed to get a really good pitch, we love it, dogs love it so a winner all round

Very relaxing stay

Enjoyed our stay went with two friends who were already familiar with the site so finding a pitch was a little easier.  Lovely setting and pitches quiet and peaceful.  There is plenty of shade which I prefer but many don't so in winter might be a little too dark for some but in the height of summer it would be very welcoming.  Would recommend the site the only negative is that the rule for entering and leaving at noon is not adhere to and vans have to pass on the lane.  People should be made to stick to the rule as cars were parked in the passing places which made it more difficult for the vans.

Excellent

Our first stay here, we wanted 2 weeks but the weekend bookers put paid to that so we only stayed 5 nights. The site is great for dog walking or just generally chilling out, there are a few exclusive pitches hidden away if you can get one of those but if not there are loads to choose from, the site wasn't that busy as it was after school holidays so we had plenty to choose from. We will be  back.

Fantastic for our family

Excellent site wardens very friendly. Only 30 mins to Lake Windermere we hired a motor boat for 2 hours for £50 lots of fun. We also went on a Tree tops experience which was excellent. The Fish and chip van arrived at the site on a Friday when we stayed in August. The only negative thing we found the games room was not open for our boys but they enjoyed riding their bikes and using the play area. We really enjoyed our stay.

Excellent Location

I agree with much of what has been said, but I consider the toilet blocks to be excellent.  This is not a site with manicured lawns, and flat pitches, but has its own charm.  The site is extremely well located for visits to both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, offering very different types of days out. The wardens were outstanding for their helpful and friendly manner.

Kendal a forest site with history

We selected Kendal for its location within the Lake District. It's location gives you ample choice for days out. Located a short distance from the M6 also allows for those longer journeys. The site is full of history, being located on an old explosives factory site there are still remnants of the old buildings, and the site team have prepared a book you can borrow to read and explore the ruins. The pitches are located throughout the forest, some in the shade and grouped together, there are a few pitches that are classed as super pitches, if you select one of these then you may need an extension hose, we needed some 20 m of hose, which fortunately we had. If you do not have the extra hose the site will sell you the extra, but would advise take extra with you. The toilet blocks are acceptable, but I think there could be more, at weekends you would struggle to use the facilities. When we first arrived the site team greeted us with warmth and were very friendly and explained in great detail the layout and routes to take, nothing was to much for them. The site shop was not up to much, as the stock was minimal, but the fresh produce, eggs, bread, rolls and the addition of the cream teas did make up for it. There is a farm shop just as you enter the site, but it's a very expensive place to shop. The roads into the site need some TLC as there were some bad potholes, as long as no one came the other way you could avoid them. My advice on entering the site is make sure you arrive after 1200hrs, there is no way 2 caravans can pass. We would visit again, as we loved the peace and quiet, the bird song was a beautiful sound to wake up to.
