A week in Devon

This is my third visit to this site and as usual I found it to be well maintained, clean and friendly. It has everything you could wish for, large dog walk and large play area for football etc. This site is near to beaches, cities and pretty villages. the country side and views are to die for. Bigbury on sea and Burgh Island should be on your wish list. Plenty of nice pubs that do meals and most are dog friendly. Try the Pickwick Inn on the way to Bigbury. Agreed that the access road is a little tight but if you take it steady its manageable. Large motorhomes may find it a problem as there is no public transport until you get to Modbury and Devon roads are notoriously narrow. They also have seasonal pitches which are well kept too. No problems with the wash block, clean, tidy and functional. Large disabled wash room too. All in all love this site and will always return.

Great Site

This is our fourth stay on this site over the years and I don't understand why it is so under used. The current wardens, together with their assistants have turned this site around - it is immaculate!!! Yes - we all agree that the toilet block is a bit dated but it is clean and functional. The dog walk must be one of the best on the network and if you have kids, there is a huge playing field where they can let off steam. The site is well located for visiting the coast or Dartmoor but if you require shops, both Plymouth and Torquay are in reach. Many people moan about the narrow approach from the A38 - don't worry. Take your time - there are plenty of passing places. Use this site or lose it!!

a superb discovery

we only needed to stay one night and booked at the last minute, nevertheless the wardens welcomed us and treated us as if we were their best customer! having only a small VW camper the access to the site was fie for us but i would imaging those with bigger units may find it a little more challenging. do try though because the site is well worth the effort. quiet, clean, spacious and with a lovely feel. if ever in the area again we would definitely go back. out two dogs loved it too, a big field for them to chase tennis balls made them very happy!

Brilliant Site.

This site is lovely. Clean, tidy and the wardens are brilliant. When I rang to make a booking as we needed a disabled pitch they where more than helpful and this carried on while we where there. The shop had what you needed if you ran out. The toilet block was old and needs a face lift but is was very clean. The pitches where a good size but there where a lot of seasonal pitches there too. The dog run was amazing, best yet and the playing field for the kids was brilliant. well thought out. Loved the access, not for the faint hearted. The village of Modbury was nice. Found a dog friendly beach. The site was in easy drive of Plymouth and Dartmouth. All in all a great stay albeit a bit quite for August. ( site was on half full).

Best club site

We have been coming to this site for many years, and it never fails. Yes the road from the A38, must be taken with care, but well worth it. Great for visiting the South Hams. Large kids playing field, and also big dog walking area. Can't wait to our next visit.

A credit to the Caravan Club

We stayed for 7 nights in early August.  The site was unexpectedly quiet, we did think it would be very noisy and busy due to school holidays and the number of pitches.  However, the siting of the pitches is so good that it is like a lot of smaller sites in one.  We had pitch 104 which was great for being away from the one-way through road but also convenient for the facilities block.  There are 4 showers for female, same for men, which was adequate during our stay. Suspect there would be some queues if the site was full.  But they were always spotless.  And there are loads of curtained washbasin cubicles.  The wardens are first class; they are always busy, always friendly, but always ready when you have a question for them.  Sorry I couldn't return our laminated pitch number.  You were right, I did find it when we got home.

Best maintained site I have stayed on

Choice of hard standing or grass, immaculate washrooms and water/waste points, friendly helpful wardens. Lots of bird life. This site really ticks all the boxes as far as we are concerned. (Cant really comment on good for families as just self and wife but forced to enter a score by website. Apologies if this misleads anyone with children)

Almost perfect...

Beautiful rural setting. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Very clean site. Great dog-walk and kids' play facilities. Toilet block spotless but a bit small to cope when site at near-capacity. Easy access to South Hams coast, Salcombe. Reasonable nearby pub and filling station.

Only downside – testing access from A38 onwards, about 15 mins of steep-sided Devon country roads where you need to take it steady and be prepared to use passing places if/when necessary.

What a joy !

Just returned from a week at Caravan Club Modbury. Wonderful site, very clean and well maintained. The wardens are very friendly and enjoy the occasional chat and a good laugh. You could not wish for nicer people. They are fastidious in their duties and keep an extremely good, clean site. Smashing play area for those with children and a very good dog walking area.We will be back!

Quite and well positioned site.

An excellent site, well up to the standards as expected from a Club site.  Close to Modbury, an interesting Town with all the shops you could need. Check out the Saturday wheel barrow market. Central South Hams location, ideal for all the coastal attractions and close to the Moors. A worthwhile stay.
