Holiday in the Hams

Lovely, neat, clean and well maintained club site. The wardens are really friendly and helpful. Good sized pitches and a nice playground area at the bottom of the site with 12 pitches in close proximity. The remainder are well away giving privacy and solitude for those who desire it. The Toilets are very clean. The site was quieter than normal for the time of the year, but it has a peaceful ambience being sited well into the beautiful Devon countryside.

Peace and quiet

I have just returned from a nine night stay at Modbury. The site was very quiet and the wardens were friendly and helpful. The access road was quite narrow but not a real problem if driven carefully. Unfortunately the weather was disappointing for June but we found plenty of places to visit to avoid the rain. On the few dry days we visited the coast which was spectacular. On wet days there were plenty of National Trust properties to visit.

Give it a visit

This is a very peaceful site ,well maintained with friendly wardens and assistants . The approach is narrow but if you take it steady and follow the book you won't have a problem.Places to visit are Plymouth, Dartmouth and the moor.Give it a visit it's worth it

Spring Half Term Stay at Modbury

We decided to try this site at short notice, as so many other sites were fully booked for the children's Spring half term break. All we can say is, what an absolute gem of a site Modbury is - beautifully maintained, immaculate shower block, friendly staff who always had time to stop and have a chat with nothing too much trouble, the pitches being of good size and the whole site being very well laid out.  We have a dog and the dog walking field was nothing short of amazing - the grass always cut, an excellent size and so pleasant to sit in whilst watching and playing with the pooch! Whilst there for our second weekend, there was a group of young families staying in tents who were rather inconsiderate to others by staying up until the early hours, being very 'happy'.  Other than this, the site was quite peaceful. We will continue to visit and in fact several of the other friendly visitors had been returning for many years. Other reviews mention the road leading to the site as being difficult, but if you take it easy and travel early or later than 'peak' times of the day, you will be fine.   Well done and thank you to all the staff who make this one of our favourite sites and would recommend this wholeheartedly to anyone.

Mdbury is great

Very pleasant and peaceful site. Childrens play area with some closeby pitches, but to one side if one wants a quiet spot. Good facilities, esp disabled washroom/toilet. Very helpful staff. Closeby Modbury which is an interestin town, with pu, COOP etc - but also very closo to great beaches, Salcom, Kingsridge etc.

October Half Term in Devon

We spent a pleasant and quiet 10 days here at the end of the season, 22nd to 31st October. The Wardens were friendly and efficient and the site appropriate for our needs having checked it out in advance. Similarly the journey to and from the site and travelling around the area posed no surprises as we knew what to expect from experience and research.

long weekend

This site was very nice it has a lovely field for the dog to run around in, but the roads to the camp site was very narrow and if you have children it has a lovely play area, we like this site as it was out of season dont think we go in season as we dont have children,

5 peaceful nights.

I would echo others. My family enjoyed 5 peaceful nights at the end of October. the site was very empty, yet standards were maintained: we found the showers fine. Staff were friendly, chatty, helpful and always busy around the site, tidying and cleaning, which I like to see. The site is remote, for sure, but this m8guy n9t matter to some. It was a 6 mile windy drive to Bigbury- a very lovely town on the sea, perfect for all. Plymouth took 40 minutes, and once on the A38 was good....but there's my only niggle...the windy lanes are difficult and yet surprisingly busy, and we came to dread driving around the area. The sat-nag insisted on the fattest routes along miles of the narrowest roads, pressumably trying for The shortest distances. I recommend you ignore this, and head for the A38 directly. The small play park was nice, and the shop adequate. We'd go again simply for Bigbury, but would prefer a site closer to Plymouth for tourism purposes. Booking was easy, as usual.
