Our first visit to the site for a one night stopover on our way up to North Wales - and we were delighted. We called ahead with a special request and the wardens went above and beyond to make it happen . They were so friendly and welcoming and really made our stay enjoyable. The site itself was clean, tidy and well maintained. Just a short walk in to beautiful Warwick and a delightful circuit round the race course perimeter made our short stay just perfect. We will definitely be returning.
Lovely site at Warwick Racecourse
Lovely site, clean and tidy and Jo and Malc were very welcoming and helpful - even Twiggy (dog) got a biscuit. Short walk into the town and even though we were there a few days, we didn't get to see everywhere. Lots of restaurants of different nationalities, great fish and chip shop and many pubs. Husband was happy as there was a 9 hole golf course on the doorstop and I was happy as you could walk the dog round the racecourse with no limitations, unlike Great Yarmouth Racecourse where dogs are not allowed on the race course at all. We had 2 nights on our way down to London and on the way back up had another 2 nights. I would definitely recommend and we will be back.
Very pleasant surprise
We don't usually use big sites but stayed here due to it being so close to Warwick Castle for an event. Previous older reviews proved to be completely wrong, probably because Jo and Malc are the new(ish) wardens. They were very friendly, warm, welcoming people with a great chat and sense of humour. They are definitely doing the right job for them and a great job for the CAMC.
The site is well situated for a short walk into Warwick with all its great pubs, shops, eateries etc. The castle is a short walk and Leamington Spa a 4 mile cycle along the river and canal proved to be very pleasant.
We don't live too far away so we will be using the site again in the future for a night out, visit to the sites etc.
Toilet block kept very clean and smelt fresh.
Cassette emptying and dish washing area, very clean too, in fact I saw Malc scrubbing away each morning in order to keep it that way.
Motorhome point not the best but I understand the club are going to put a grate across the area to make it easier to empty Grey water as the current lift up drain not really ideal.
Although a big site for us, it was well designed and quiet although a slight hum from M40 traffic which didn't concern us.
The car park area others have mentioned is part of the racecourse so it is what it is and I understand is not used by the site on racedays. The grassed and gravel area of the site is much nicer and well kept. Thank you, we will be back.
Lovely stay
We arrived at Warwick racecourse site during a heatwave and temperatures upto 30c. Despite this the wardens were pleasant and helpful. They identified a few empty pitches and told us to choose which we preferred. We had booked grass with awning and got a huge pitch No 19. We stayed so we could attend a UB40 concert taking place at Warwick castle. It proved to be only a 10 minutes walk away. We didn’t use the site toilet and shower block so can’t comment but the rest of the site was tidy and the grass around each pitch was kept short with longer grass in between pitches. Didn’t like the large tarmac hardstanding with no awning area. It looked like a big car park. There was other gravelled hardstanding areas for erecting awnings but we witnessed some movers struggling as the gravel was so deep. An evening walk around the racecourse was very pleasant. A short, but uphill walk into town meant we could access loads of eateries and pubs to enjoy some refreshments and to shelter from the sweltering heat. Tv reception was good. Phone reception on EE and 3 was useable and we managed to download a documentary we had missed. Will return when it’s a bit cooler to enable us to see more of this area.
Excellent site
The team here are excellent, bus stop’s just outside the site for travel to Stratford and Coventry, Wetherspoons in the town for cheap beer and food
Great site and location
The site is a good location
Facilities are spotless even though a little dated
Big shout out for Malc and Jo they are friendly and helpful nothing too much trouble
We will definitely return
Thank you for a great stay
AN ENJOYABLE STAY
Ok, this certainly isn't the best site on the C&MC network, and the facilities are limited and basic, but we have stayed here many times as it is very handy for Warwick and its many shops pubs, & eateries. Located in the middle of the racecourse, there are huge open spaces to walk your 4 legged friends or exercise yourselves. As it is a small site, good hardstanding pitches for those using awnings are limited, and the hardstanding (tarmac) pitches trackside are withdrawn on racedays. Also, the site does have to close off some grass pitches during bad weather as they get very waterlogged. We have always found the Wardens here very pleasant and helpful so can't understand the previous bad comments saying the wardens were 'rude'. As the site is so near to town and a large Supermarket (10 minutes walk) it is ideal for motorhomes or those not wanting to use their cars.
Rude wardens
Arrived to be given choice of 4 hardstanding pitches even though site almost empty
When pitched on largest of these caravan was against hedge and front on road unable to wLk around caravan
Complained the lady warden said to her husband let the lady choose her pitch we moved to larger pitch the week we were there was no longer units than ours there answer to questioning this was there's big outfits coming all we're shorter than our they said our caravan length was wrong on club website we checked it was not wrong
Arrived back from day out to find a caravan on grass next to us this was not a pitch and had no pitch numbers on was definitely not 3 metres away questioned male warden who said it was a pitch and was fine telling me I don't own the site
I've not met such a rude warden felt unsafe and intimidated with his own set of rules
Left 2 days earlier won't return
Start of season.
1st trip of 2023.couple nights on way to Baltic Wharf.
Easy to find and handy for town and buses.
Lots potholes and puddles. Toilet block ventilation is noisy and not very effective. Water hot but all looks very tired and a bit shabby.good job its not more expensive !!
Staff pleasant.
A lovely stay and a great site. We will be back.
We had booked a long time ago, planning to visit Stratford Christmas Market. Having seen the mixed reviews we were a little apprehensive. However, it was all brilliant, so need to worry!
The couple that manage it were very welcoming and friendly on our arrival. There were even lovely home made cakes for sale at reception, which were delicious.
The site is literally smack bang in the middle of the racecourse, so quite a special and scenic spot. It is literally a stones throw walk into Warwick though, across the race course and up the road. Warwick is lovely, with some fine choices of pubs and dining.
We had one of the gravel pitches. Some reviewers had moaned about the amount of gravel, but it was no issue for us at all. The toilet and shower block was immaculate and cleaned to perfection every day. The people managing this site are lovely and I made sure to say a big "thank you" for all their hard work and letting us have a later check out, which enabled us to do a lovely snowy walk with the dog, then have brunch before leaving.
We did the Park Run on Saturday morning too, which starts about 100 metres from the site. That is a great event too, if you fancy a nice sociable, fast 5 km run on Saturday morning!
The only slight downside of our whole stay was the time it took to get the bus in to Stratford. The bus stop is just up the road, but the bus was very late and the road into Stratford was chaos, so it took over an hour! Been quicker walking...
Highly recommend a visit to the Warwick Racecourse site. Lovely location, close to the pretty town and lots of lovely walks on the doorstep.
Thanks. Neil, Susie, Rosie, Isabel and Bobby the dog (plus our friends in their 4 outfits as well).
