Great location

I have been using this site for many years, it's it a perfect location for touring the area, Kenilworth, Stratford upon Avon, Warwick Town, and even Coventry. Great site for motorhomers, easy walk into town or sainsbury's, great for dog owners, with comprehensive walks around the area. I can only comment on the disabled facilities, which are excellent, as is the chemical toilet disposal point, unlike Sutton-on-Sea, where it is completely inaccessible if you are in a wheelchair, and that is in a brand new building! Some negatives, not the quietest site, but not exclusively noisy, the new hardstandings are awful, far too deep in stones, maybe they will improve with use. This site has always been blessed with the best wardens on the club network, Kath and Roy are included in that, nothing is too much trouble, very friendly and welcoming. I will be back to my favourite site.

Not for long stays

We have stayed here many times in the past but usually just for overnight or once for a race meeting. This time we stayed longer and wish we hadn't. On the positive side buses are close by to take trips out, Stratford upon Avon, Leamington Spa and Coventry and there is a pleasant walk up the Canal. The town is not far away but is now full of charity shops or cafes and has very little to offer but Sainsburys for essentials is 'just up the road'. Many pitches have been upgraded but this has been done on the cheap, small pebbles over the pitch but no drain away facility, when we pitched there were two heavy thunderstorms and the water just collected under the stones and did not drain away it was just wet and soggy. As the site is close to Brimingham airport there was a constant loud noise of aeroplanes, and there is a footpath behind the site, which is very noisy. The facilities are very poor offering only three showers and two curtained washbasins (in the Ladies) for a site offering 56 pitches, and in common with so many CC&M sites the shower cubicles are very small. I would query why this site is more expensive than others as it does not warrant this, only good for an overnight or one full day before moving on.

Good for short stays but not a quiet, peaceful site

We have stayed at Warwick many times over the years which is great for short stays and only a short walk into the town centre with its many pubs, cafe's & eateries, not a lot of interesting small shops but as in most towns, plenty of charity shops. Sainsburys is only a short walk, so handy for those in motorhomes. Well located for visiting the Castle and there are regular busses to other towns such as Leamington & Stratford if you don't have a car. Overnighters are usually put on the tarmac area next to the race track but this area is out of use on race days. Many of the pitches have been 'upgraded' to so called 'hardstandings' but as they have used small pebbles rather than stone chips tyres & jockey wheels sink in and caravans are difficult to manouvre. The stones have also spread over the access roads so look messy. This is certainly not one of the tidiest sites on the network. DO NOT arrive before 1pm as the gate that crosses the racecourse is locked and will not be opened until 1pm on the dot, so early arrivals can sometimes queue back onto the main road. We found the managers strict (as they need to be with a few members ignoring the site rules), but were pleasant and friendly to us and our friends. As for peace & quiet .... The site is under the flight path to Birmingham International Airport, with low flying planes for 18 hours a day, the Racecourse groundsmen with their tractors are either watering or cutting the course from very early morning, there is traffic noise and sirens day and night, and there is noise from the gen public using the grounds for excersise and dog walking. Morning lie-ins or afternoon siestas are a definite nono !!

Centrally located site

Having stayed here several times in the past, we chose to stay her for an overnight stop en-route to our destination. Due to routine maintenance, entry was only possible via the golf course entrance, which is quite narrow with a tight turn and whilst we were told "the bin lorry gets through without any issues, so it is not tight", this is probably shorter than an average car/caravan outfi and has rear wheel steering. The check-in was not warm or welcoming and proved to be more of a tirade of 'do's and don'ts' on what has unfortunately become an over-regulated site. Whilst we appreciate that there will always be rules, there are ways in which these can be communicated pleasantly and less officiously - particularly as there is signage everywhere, duplicated and in some places in triplicate! The site is currently operating as part of a pilot scheme, whereby all outfits must have the habitation door on the same side, irrespective of Uk/European/Overseas builds. This can cause a problem for those seeking to pitch in a way to enjoy a view - racecourse, seaviews, lochs etc - where you could be forced to face a wall, high bank or other obstruction with the best view behind you. If current rules do not comply with fire regulations, then move pitches further apart or lose a couple to achieve this. The toilet blocks are somewhat dated and in need of refurbishment. The motorhome waste point is awkwardly located and not easy for some vehicles to access to ensure that the waste pipe is over the drain. There are a lot of dog owners in the CAMC - is it really necessary to shout from reception in a very loud voice to an owner for a dog weeing on the site - again, there are better ways to communicate. Luckily, this was not directed at us as this would most certainly have courted a reaction! On the plus side, there are several good pitches on or near the racing rail, affording fine views of the grandstand and course etc (should you be allowed to face that way!). Warwick Town Centre is a short walk away, offering plenty of eateries and pubs, plus a fish and chip shop. Buses to surrounding areas operate from the Town Centre. The site is surrounded by open grassland, which is excellent for a walk or if you have a dog for exercising.

Welcoming site near the centre of Warwick.

Stayed at the site for 2 weeks while volunteering at The Commonwealth Games. First time I had stayed in the caravan on my own. Having read some of the previous reviews, I was slightly apprehensive. However, my experience was the total opposite. From the moment I arrived, Kath and Roy made me feel welcome and supported. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and I knew if I had any problems they would have done whatever they could to help. The site itself is really quiet considering how close to the centre of Warwick it is. The fact that it sits within the racecourse probably helps. Although the facilities are a little bit dated (the showers are brilliant though), they are spotlessly clean and well maintained. There are plenty of walks around the area, great if you have dogs with you. The Grand Union Canal is about a mile away and offers a lovely walk into Leamington Spa. Sainsburys supermarket is a short flat walk away. We will definitely return to this site.

Great for the town

We were welcome to the site by Christine, who with the help from Roy found us a lovely pitch, where we didn’t need to face a hedge and had a nice view of the town and racecourse. I found Christine and Roy very friendly and helpful. The toilets were cleaned every morning between 10.00 and 11.00. We found this a little early as like to lounge and relax in the mornings, and there is no service toilet. The site was really in a great location only 10 minutes to Warwick centre. It’s also only a 40 to 50 min drive to the beautiful Cotswolds. The supermarket is a 10 min flat walk away, so everything is very central. Despite the proximity to the town the site was quiet and peaceful. We will be back

What a great site!

I booked this site very last minute as I was unable to find a hotel whilst I volunteered at the Commonwealth Games. I was based in Royal Leamington Spa which is 10 minutes drive from this site. I received a warm welcome from Kath and Roy who went above and beyond to make me feel safe whilst I solo camped. Facilities are spotless and although Kath and Roy have to secure the external gates from 8pm, access is always possible in and out of the site. Do not arrive prior to 1pm, however, if you do, you can wait on a car park at the entrance. I will be back as I want to explore Warwick and RLS.

Perfect for us.

We were having a mini tour of surrounding area so this site was perfect for our tour. Upon arrival we were met by both Kath and Roy who were more than helpful with our check in and explained all we needed to know, we had booked a standard pitch and chose pitch 17, yes the pebble base can be soft but we got the van level by mounding up some of the pebbles as I forgot my levelling ramp whilst Roy was doing his rounds he noticed this and said he could have let me a have a levelling ramp for our stay which I found very kind of him. We were booked in for 3 nights but extended our stay due to enjoying it so much unfortunately we could only get a non awning pitch explained this to them and they said no problem they told us which pitches would be available the following day and we could choose which ever we wanted. Yes some of the pitches are a bit uneven levelling ramps are an advantage but are the club restricted with what they can do due to it being on the Racecourse?. Toilet block maybe small but they are clean and probably the most powerful showers we have ever used, it is a shame that when they are being cleaned there is no service toilet or anything but we were told that one had been requested, only one pot wash sink may mean you have to but no hardship for us. The site is perfectly situated for the town which offers all you could need for a stay, pubs restaurant's coffee shops and supermarket. Well worth a visit is Hatton locks about a 1.5 hr walk from the site or a 10 min car journey with parking £3 all day. Some of the previous reviews make this sound like a site to avoid but we found Kath and Roy more than helpful, site rules are place to make sure everyone is safe and have an enjoyable stay. Would recommend and will return if in the area again. Thanks to Kath and Roy for the hard work they do running this site on their own. 👍

Great Location very tired site.

We stayed here for 4 nights in late July. Just a 10 minute walk into Warwick, with lots of coffee shops, bars and restaurants. Lovely village. Sainsbury supermarket in walking distance from site. We got the number 1 bus into Leamington Spa £9 for 2 adults day return. X18 bus to Stratford runs frequently. Site desperately needs updating. Road is very very rough round site. The hard standing pitches have gravel which when you pull onto you sink in the large stones. Levelling blocks needed. Only one washing up sink for 56 pitches, constant queues waiting in that area. I could not believe only 3 showers and 2 basins with curtains (ladies). For the 4 nights we stayed I queued every time for a shower or wash basin. If your at the back of the site from pitches 17-12 it is a long walk to get water and empty chemical waste, which you have to carry as you cannot pull on the very rough road surface as it will damage you toilet cassette. Also you will hear people walking behind these pitches walking dogs, having conversations. We was woken at 7.05am one morning with a lady shouting very loud to her dog “lucky come here” several times.
