1. Escape to the Coast, St Agnes, Cornwall

Few things can beat a beach break and St Agnes is the perfect base to explore the cream of Cornwall. There’s a huge variety of events and attractions to choose from throughout the whole of August, from fabulous fireworks at Flambards to amazing outdoor theatre, world class art galleries and fabulously fresh local farmers' markets – there's something to suit everyone.

2. A retro weekend at Goodwood

3. Foodies Festival

The UK’s biggest food festival is back this Bank Holiday (24-26 August), it’s a mouth-watering masterpiece, combining marvellous live music and munchable morsels. Mull over the delectable delights from over 30 street food stalls, take part in a wide variety of cookery workshops and witness the mastery of top chefs cooking live.

4. Notting Hill Carnival

Europe's largest street festival takes place in West London on Sunday 25 August. Be mesmerised by this amazing spectacle and enjoy traditional Caribbean food, from goat curry to jerk chicken, plus fantastic live music including reggae and salsa.

5. Edinburgh Fringe Festival

From 2-26 August dive into the amusing and unbelievable world of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. You may have thought that it was too late to enjoy the festival, with most accommodation being booked up months in advance, but if you’re happy to go a little further out, Balbirnie Park has availability and is not too far away from the action. Enjoy stand-up comedy, theatre, musicals, opera and more.

6. Discover Yorkshire

9.  Groombridge Place Estate

11. Hatchlands Park

With 400 glorious acres to explore this beautiful parkland is the perfect place to visit any time of the year. There’s an outdoor theatre and cinema, a fantastic children’s adventure area complete with a treehouse, and over 50 activities to try your hand at. Over and around the Bank Holiday weekend there are also a number of special events and attractions including pony rides, have-a-go archery, and a fantastical outdoor theatre show with music, puppetry and a cast of colourful characters.
