On our escorted tours you have the choice to pre-book a small selection of optional excursions up to 12 weeks prior to departure, or if you prefer you can book and pay for optional excursions locally with the aid of your tour hosts.

Some optional excursions are weather dependent and may be cancelled at short notice, should this be the case we will only be able to refund you on your return home as we don’t keep any payment details on file.

Arthurs Pass Tour

Starting with a coach trip, you'll travel by road through the rural scenes of the Canterbury Plains. Battlefield Tour

Emdoneni Cheetah Project

You'll be visiting the rehabilitation and educational centre, home to four big cat species. You'll see caracal (lynx), serval, cheetah and African wildcat, as well as feeding the smaller cat species. Plus, if you're feeling brave, you can also go inside the enclosers with the guide.

Bear Watching Tour

Every day, black bears can be seen rambling out of the dense rainforests that line the rocky shores of Barkley Sound to find food. This incredible sighting will last a lifetime as you get to witness these beautiful bears in their natural environment. As you continue to travel along the shoreline you could also see herons, sea lions, seals and eagles.

Whale Watching Tour

This is the perfect trip to see nature's giants in their natural habitat. On this trip, you will most often see pacific grey whales. Humpback whales are seen throughout the season, with the heaviest sightings between June and September. If you're lucky you could see orcas, as well as enjoy sightings of sea lions, sea otters, and other amazing wildlife while on the water.
