A sheer delight. Calm, peaceful and utterly relaxing.

Kilhendre Hall Farm
This is a really wonderful site. A real "back to how caravanning used to be" site. You have full access to an extremely large field. Many level spots, particularly alongside the delightful stream if you turn left just after entering the gate. There are a few sheep on the site and it's amusing to watch their antics. The grass is long in places but soon, and very easily, flattened. Other parts of the field have short grass. Waste disposal is halfway up the drive, and water is by the farm. You will need your car to access the water unless you pitch right up at the top. I had mobile coverage sufficient to send messages and check the internet, but I do admit it was slow. I never tried it out up at the top of the field by the farm. We don't have a television so I can't comment on reception. (Listening to the birds is far nicer anyway) The farmer and his partner were so lovely and friendly. It was always a pleasure to have a chat and they showed us remnants of mosaic floor where Kilhendre Hall had once stood and gave us information about how the grounds had looked when the Hall was there. Unfortunately, Duddleston Church was locked, because apparently there are quite a few photos of the Hall in there. There's a footpath running across the campsite (hardly ever used) about a third the way down from the farmhouse and it's possible to do a circular walk from the site. Easy access to Llangollen and surrounding areas. The canal is down at St Martin's, so there are walks along it close to hand. St Martin's has a pretty good supermarket for any shopping you might need. Also close to Oswestry, where there are mainstream supermarkets and a delightful town centre. It's becoming increasingly hard to find off the grid sites, although I understand there are 400 of them in the club. This one is perhaps one of the very best, and we've been about 3 times, possibly 4, and would very happily return again.
