Why stay here ...

Welcome to Mere Farm CL, nestled in the Suffolk countryside that is Constable Country in the village of Haughley, located 2 miles northwest of Stowmarket overlooking the Gipping Valley and next to the A14 corridor, facilitating easy access to the many and varied tourist locations that Suffolk has to offer.

Haughley is a vibrant village, something of a rarity these days, and boasts a Post Office, Indian and Pub Restaurants, CO-OP, hairdresser and family run Artisan Bakery dating back to 1869.

Haughley Castle is considered one of the best-preserved motte and bailey earthworks in Suffolk built by Hugh de Montfort following the Norman Conquest of 1066.

The site offers pasture pitching in an open field and very much reflects the rustic nature of the area. Secluded behind mature hedges with access through the farmyard the site is secluded and secure in equal measures.

The proximity to A14 corridor facilitates ease of access in locating the site and the numerous varied tourist attractions the area and Suffolk County has to offer a taste of which is listed below:

  • Haughley Park – open to the public for special events; check schedules for
    festivals and markets (3 miles).
  • Mid Suffolk Light Railway – preserved heritage railway (10 Miles).
Food Museum – explore the history and future of food production (16
    miles).
  • Jimmy’s Farm and Wildlife Park – popular attraction with farm animals, a

……. and then there is the unique Suffolk coast including The Suffolk Coast National Nature Reserve – a wildlife reserve created in 2003 renowned for its diverse landscapes including heathlands, reedbeds and salt marshes. The reserve is recognized as an important site for birdwatching especially during the winter when it hosts large flocks of wildfowl.

Unique to Mere Farm CL is it’s adjacent Mere Medow Dog Field offering secure exercise/training/dog walking complete with a Dog Swimming Pool!!! There is a
shelter for the handlers during inclement weather or picnicking in good. This is a shared facility with the public and pre-booking online is advisable. Please note cost of hire is not included in the nightly pitching fee.

So, whatever you’re looking for, Suffolk is unlikely to be found wanting. Equally if you just want to unwind and step back from the daily hustle and bustle of working life then Suffolk will allow you to immerse yourself in the peace and tranquility that is the natural world.
