Lovely Time

Carsington Water is lovely if you just want to relax, have a long walk or go around the Reservoir. The site is lovely and clean and one of the best pitches we have had thus far, will definitely be going back.

Tall Trees

This was our first visit to this site. The reception on arrival was wonderful. The site itself is a woodland setting, but this is somewhat spoilt by the wardens obsession with white posts, plastic chain link and traffic cones. These are all over the site the main reason would appear to keep you off the grass, they are even between piches and either side of the pitch entrance.  That said this is a great site with wildlife all around you.  Beware when you arrive if the site is busy, as there is no guidance to where the vacant pitches are. We witnessed at least 6 caravans come into the culdesac we were in and have to reverse out, around a corner. The reservoir is a short 10 min walk at the most. Loo block seems new and kept very clean. This site has one of the best dogs walks yet.

Great stay at Carsington Water!

My wife and myself stayed for 4 nights 7th June until 11 June and it was a brilliant site. As we really like cycling the location of the site next to Carsington Reservoir was excellent. The staff are very friendly and keen to help, and the facilities are very modern and very clean. The added bonus of radio piped right through the main block great. We will definitely be returning for another stay.

When can we return??

Stayed 2/6/16 to 6/6/16. Beautiful, peaceful site with stunning views through the trees to the reservoir. It was half term but even though the site was full it wasn't at all noisey even through there quite a few children on site. The shower block is lovely, clean, warm, plenty of facilities even with Radio 2 piped in!! The water/waste/bin facilities are regularly emptied by the staff on site and the wardens couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. We had a flat tyre on the morning of our departure and were late off site which wasn't an issue and the warden even helped up by loaning us his trolley jack! There are lots of things to do in the area and we visited nearby Ashbourne which was just lovely. We can't wait to go back and explore some more.

Bank Holiday Chill

My advice would be to check with the site prior to your day of arrival that they have a suitable pitch available for you.  We have a 7.5 metre motor home and when we arrived on site the only pitch available was too short.  We consequently hung over the pitch by approximately 1.5 metres.  The warden however was helpful in that he provided us with 2 traffic cones to place at the front of our vehicle to alert other motorists that we were there. Thank you.

Excellent site, beautiful surroundings

This has got to be our favourite CC site so far. The site is kept very clean incl toilet/shower block. The wardens are very friendly & helpful. We found the dog walks to be excellent. Can't wait to go back August bank holiday & will definitely use this site more often.

Top site for families

Had an amazing bank holiday weekend here, not our first visit and won't be our last! The setting is beautiful, amongst stunning countryside with gorgeous views. This site is beautifully kept, maintained and cleaned. I am very particular about clean toilets and showers etc, and commented to the warden that these were possibly the cleanest facilities I'd ever had the pleasure to use! We arrived quite late in the evening having been stuck in traffic, the wardens called us to check we were OK and couldn't be more helpful, confirming the office was still open. The site has two play areas for toddlers and older kids, but even better is surrounded by woodland full of little "den" areas, our kids played out in the old fashioned way here!! They had a great time.  Carsington water itself is a short walk (along a footpath separated from the road) from the campsite, and offers great facilities for a family day out. The paths around the reservoir are flat and perfect for cycling all the way around, or as we did, just to the visitor centre and play areas. The play areas cater for all ages and are next to a little refreshments hut (ice cream is recommended!), open grassed recreation areas and brick barbecues for public use. All in all, a really lovely stay!!

Lovely site

A really lovely site, nice big pitches not squashed in. Site staff very friendly. Facilities very very clean and in excellent condition, lots of hot water no waiting for a shower. Condition of the site is excellent with 2 play areas for the children and suitable for families with dogs. Shop didn't stock an awful lot so bring food with you as the nearest supermarket is about a 5 mile drive. Good location but be careful of following sat hav as lots of near lanes and steep hills if you are taken off onto shortest routes. Would definitely return.
