What a gem

Went to Carsington water for the first visit on our own, second time as 3 families. Views over Carsington Resorvoir are picturesque. Wardens lovely and Friendly, helpful. Facilities were spotless both visits, grounds tendered to very nice. More visits here in the near future. All in all a little Gem of a site & a credit to the hard working Wardens

Bob and Ralph go caravanning again

This was our first visit to Carsington Water and both the site and the area are excellent for those of us who like a bit of peace and quiet in lovely countryside. The site is spacious and very well maintained, with two separate play areas for children of different ages. I should imagine this is great for families as there are pitches which overlook the play areas - great for safety and allowing children unhindered play.  For dogs and their 'minders' the walking straight from your pitch is excellent and extensive, with plenty of dog bins and no need to walk on the local roads. The visitor centre on the lake is well worth visiting and I recommend getting an ice cream for the walk back along the dam wall! Add in helpful and friendly wardens and well spaced level pitches, and this is a site we'll be visiting again.

carsington res

We live fairly local to this site and have known about it for years but this was our first visit and we enjoyed the facilities and friendliness of the site, so much so that we will return in the not too distant future.

Immaculate Site

This site is beautifully kept.  The showers are great with plenty of space and water and the toilets kept very clean.   The only negative is that there are too many signs telling what not to do.

Great for Chatsworth Horse Trials

We came here for the trials as Chatsworth is always full and it’s really handy for them with about a 30 min drive.  Firstly, the shower block facilities were really well kept.  We parked in a pitch right next to them in fact otherwise it could have been a bit of a walk at night as this was the only one on site.  The pitches seemed odd in that you couldn’t drive round to find the best without reversing out of cul-de-sacs and I watched many drivers coming backwards and forwards past us several times looking for a pitch.  Some were apparently too short for a 4 berth caravan. Site wasn't the immaculate club standard we're used to i.e. grass clipped, edges trimmed etc but then, it is woodland - but I still prefer the former – TBH, it was the fastest part of the growing season (after 5 days away I filled up my own grass bin!).  Not really within walking distance to any pub but we went on a long trek (some of it on the road) to the Red Lion and food was best I've had in a long time – though it was pricey it was worth it (fish & chips about £12).  Reservoir is fantastic and especially good for bikes.  The site is very peaceful.  Anywhere in the Peak District makes a caravan holiday worthwhile due to the beautiful scenery, but there are a few sites to choose from - so would I go to this site again?  Well yes, I would look forward to a stay if I re-booked but I’d try and get into Chatsworth first due only to the closer location to pubs etc.

Wonderful Site

We have just had six nights at this lovely site. The location is great for walking and cycling. We had two dogs with us and the woodland walk on the site was great for them. The facilities were spotless. We are new to caravaning and the one thing that was a worry was using shared facilities. What a delightful surprise we have had. The wardens were very helpful and keep the site in tip top condition. We will be back.
