Fabulous first motorhome trip

What a fabulous site in the most stunning location. This was our first ever trip in a rental motorhome for a trial run and we couldn't have picked a better site. The location is just perfect with the access to the house and walks galore. We took our dog too and the dog walking area was a helpful extra, and the facilities immaculate. The managers, Phil and Ruth were so kind offering us endless help and advice, we couldn't have asked for more. A really positive place to stay. 5 stars.

Love this site

What is not to love, the surroundings are stunning. The minute you open the gate to the park, there are so many lovely walks, we are so lucky to be able to walk in this beautiful estate. The site itself is up to the clubs high standard, only good things can be said about it! We will return, we try and go at least once a year.

Christmas at Chatsworth

Peaceful 2 night stay on a spacious pitch, also well spaced from neighbours. No noise apart from the deer at night and the pheasants in the morning. Great location to access the Christmas market at chatsworth house. Fish and chip van on site on our first night - very tasty. Walk to Bakewell or take a bus from Baslow, HP which is an easy level walk from the site. Plenty of hostelries to have a drink or bite to eat, wether walking, riding or in a vehicle. The site itself is very welcoming with many smiling faces. Facilities kept clean and tidy despite the weather. Tip- take wellies if wet, especially walking in Chatsworth park as the grass can get soggy.

Great visit

A beautiful site in a fantastic location. The site team are superb and the facilities immaculate. So much to do from the site even a week was not enough time! We will definitely be returning.

Great Location

Very lucky with the weather for our 3 night stay. The site initially feels a bit cramped when you drive in, but once parked up all was fine with plenty of elbow room. Great walks, local pubs and of course the stunning gardens of Chatsworth House a skip walk away. Not the sites fault, as it is the same on most now, but you do feel like you are in Battersea Dogs home with the amount of mutts about. No one can just have one anymore. Our neighbour, but one, had 6 on their pitch! Think thats classified as a ‘pack’! You could not walk anywhere on site without being growled or barked at, especially late evening when all owners were out on poo patrol. You needed a torch to make sure you did not tread in any ‘sticky’ stuff…..

Excellent site!

Stayed here for a week beginning of October, so not the best weather, but still managed a few nice days. The welcome and introduction to the site was very good, friendly and helpful staff. The facilities were spotlessly clean, and well maintained. The pitch, a super pitch, was nicely kept and a good size, though bigger would always be better! Access to the grounds of Chatsworth House is great for spending time wandering around, lots of Deer around, that could be heard bellowing, but oddly enough magically turned into hundreds of sheep over night! The dogs found both very interesting! The dog area on the site, where they can run off the lead is a nice bonus, especially the Squirrels, which the dogs found far less scary than the big beasties in the grounds! Tried the fish and chips, very nice, though didn't try the pizza or any of the local pubs/eateries. Loads to do and see in the area within a short drive, apart from Chatsworth House, Bolsover being our favourite. Would definitely recommend and will be returning.

Beautifully Maintained but Hectic and Overcrowded

I feel as though we must have been on a different site to most other reviewers! There is no doubt the site is well placed and beautifully maintained, but the pitches are meanly sized, there isn’t much privacy and it’s an overcrowded site with a somewhat challenging approach. Approaching from the A619 from Chesterfield takes you through a relatively built up area which creates its own challenges. Entry to the campsite is strictly and sensibly controlled as the access road is mainly single track with several pinch points. Once you get onto the site actually getting a large 8ft wide twin axel onto your pitch can also prove ‘interesting’. Our ‘super pitch’ hilariously located down the side of the toilet/shower block meant we were subjected to a never ending stream of people going back and forth and it was like being in a goldfish bowl. Having a chemical toilet emptying point actually on our pitch was a great feature though. There was a never ending cacophony of barking dogs on the site at all hours with owners seemingly oblivious to them. The site is well located and the surrounding area is lovely, but local amenities are few and far between and you have to go back into Chesterfield for supermarket shopping. WiFi is dreadful and we were unable to use it at all. TV reception is poor and aerial points would be a great addition. For us it simply didn’t provide the experience we wanted and have found elsewhere.

Lovely site

Easy check in and friendly wardens. Site busy and not many spare pitches. Fish and chip van was much appreciated and it would be useful to have visiting food vans detailed on the website prior to arriving. (This applies to all CAMH sites). TV aeriel connection on EHU post didn't seem to find many channels from Sheffield mast and not sure why it should be transmitted from this area as its very hilly between Peak District and Sheffield. I would have thought an East Midlands transmitter would have been better ?? Water not very hot in dishwashing room in the evenings but weather was cloudy so maybe that was why. Also, showers have quite poor pressure and the showers themselves are quite dated. Having said that, it didn't spoil our stay and is still one of our favourite sites- we will be back ! Oh and thank you to the Wardens.

Amazing Site and Location

You’ll probably already know by looking at this site but it’s an amazing location. a visit to the farm shop is a must! A lovely site and nicely set out with access to the Chatsworth estate through a locked gate (you get the key). Rachel loved Chatsworth house and highly recommended! All in all we had a lovely stay at a great site in a beautiful area. David, Rachel & Roxy
