Lovely site in the country

We stayed here for four nights in our motorhome. We had a super pitch, which we picked backing onto the wall of the Chatsworth grounds. The shower facilities were always extremely clean, plenty of hot water. The staff were really friendly and helpful. We visited Chatsworth House and the gardens, through the 'secret' gate of the wall. So many lovely walks to be had. Enjoyed a great meal in Baslow. We really enjoyed our time here.

Peaceful and really close to Chatsworth

Among campsites with benefits, this one's a doozy! We just needed a couple of nights of civilized camping and rest after a weekend off-grid at a festival and it was perfect for that because it's very quiet and sheltered, with excellent facilities. But it also has Chatsworth House and Gardens just on the other side of the wall, so a ready-made wonderful activity for us! We got a discount on the ticket price for staying in the campsite and for arriving without a car. The first afternoon there was plenty of gorgeous estate, cafe and shop for us to wander round without even buying a ticket. Then our main day was spent investigating the huge house and garden. In the evening we drove out to a gorgeous village and had a pub meal - there were loads to choose from. You do need to book early though! I highly recommend this well-organised, friendly site, which is a cut-above your average. They were having a card-reader problem when we arrived though, probably just unlucky for us. That'll teach me not to carry any cash!

Excellent Site in a great location

We booked here after been recommended by friends, I am glad to say it was brilliant, the wardens were very helpful advising on pitch locations. The pitch we chose was ideal for us as we needed to be away early on the Sunday morning, this helped reduce noise to other site users, the access to Chatsworth Estate was lovely and provided beautiful walks. The only downside we had which was nothing to do with the site but our neighbour complained to us about the way we had parked our MH, however we were parked well within the club and site wardens guidelines. Maybe they were just grumpy people. well done to the wardens for a lovely site.

Good site

The site is in a great location although we missed the entrance as the signage is literally at the entrance so no time for slowing to turn on a very busy road, so we just headed to the roundabout and entered from the opposite direction. We were welcomed with a friendly warden explaining everything as this was our first time in this site. The site seemed small with the pitches that seemed to be fairly close together in comparison to other CAMC sites. We had a super pitch, good, but a little on the pricey side. We were under trees, which I don’t mind but be aware, as when we rolled out our awning after putting it away the previous night, a small piece of twig had nearly put a hole in the awning! So I suggest brushing the awning before winding back in! A lesson learned. Great access into Chatworth grounds, a little walk into Baslow to eat, the sun made the walk more pleasant. Shower/toilet facilities very clean, but I think the hedges between pitches could have been cut and the weeds sprayed just to make it look a little less unkempt. Just my opinion. Overall, a nice site and would stay again, but perhaps not under the back wall trees!

Amazing site !

We stayed from the 12th till the 24th June 2023. We stayed under the trees as we had a dog and wanted shade , we had no excess bird droppings at all.! The site was second to none , the facilities were spotlessly clean , plenty of showers and toilets for everyone . Beautiful location with a key to the door to access Chatsworth . Ducks , birds and squirrels all added to the tranquility of the site . The staff were warm and welcoming , always stopped for a chat and made a real fuss of our dog . I can’t recommend the site or the staff enough

Excellent Stay - Super Pitch no 15

Having read several negative reviews we were pleasantly surprised to find these where not justified during our visit between 2nd to 4th June 2023 The warden on arrival (Phil) and thought our stay could not have been more helpful and friendly , facilities excellent and clean Location perfect for Chatsworth house and Gardens with the sites own private gate within the estate walls , great to walk in the evening along the river when the crowds have gone. Yes there are Crows which if you were a light sleeper may wake you a bit earlier than usual but after all you have to bear in mind that the site is located in the glorious countryside , would we rather have the crows or traffic noise ? As for bird fouling we have no issues of this nor could we see any evidence elsewhere , if pitching directly under the trees at the sites far end then maybe this could be apparent. The site fees are towards the higher end when compared to others within the network and commercial sites however if you visiting the house & gardens by foot a discount of £5.00 is available from the site. I would fully recommend a visit to this site and place do not be put off by any of the negative reviews

Good Wardens

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of a tour of the area in May. We'd booked a superior pitch but there was only one left which was not to our liking. The wardens were helpful in finding us a white pitch and the difference was refunded immediately (although we hadn't expected this or asked for it) The following day a superior pitch became free the warden allowed us to move to it. All the staff were very helpful. They also had to deal with some families who allowed their children to jump in the hedging on site! We enjoyed a walk to the house but didn't go in. We walked up the steep hill through woodland to the hunting lodge. It was disappointing that the cafe was closed for a wedding when we got down again! Very clean facilities. Overall a nice site but felt busy and was quite expensive

Compromised & frustrating

Superior pitch was ridiculously tight, with circa 2ft of width to sit outside. I know it's nature, but with the crows & sapphire, I now have a good days worth of cleaning. Pitch was therefore not good value. CL site next time for this area.

Good site shame about the crows and trees

Having visited this site before we were prepared for the fact that it is busy and you take whatever pitch you can. As per other reviews there currently are a number of crows and having ended up under some trees sadly our caravan and sun porch were well and truly covered. The main issue for us though was the fact that the tree in question was a lime tree and sticky sap deposited on the caravan and awning were horrendous. Due to travelling to another site after our short stay at Chatsworth we were only able to clean the sun porch ( 1 hour of water soaking and gentle sponging) before travelling onward. Now home we are faced with potential permanent staining from the bird deposits and sap. It is appreciated that the trees are part of the sites beauty and birds are not a problem of the clubs making but we do feel some pitches (27/28/29) need warnings and potentially removed from use.
