An honest appraisal

Stayed during August 2015. Very pleasant friendly staff. Site well maintained and toilets and showering facilities were 1st class. Nice walking distance to Cheddar Gorge. My only grumbles were the loose stone chipping hard standing pitches are nigh on impossible to drive pegs into for anyone wishing to erect an awning and if you don't care for church bells then you won't enjoy the nearby church clock tower chiming every half an hour morning noon and night. Being a bit of a light sleeper I woke every time it chimed all through the wee small hours. Other than that we had a lovely long weekend away.

Staff couldn't have been more helpfull

Just want to say a big thank you to the Wardens who looked after my mum and dad when they had a tire burst on their caravan on the day of arrival. Nothing was any trouble, from moving the van so they could be next to my set up, as the mover had broken the next day and levelling the van for them, to helping hitch the van on our departure. The toilet block was always immaculate and the washing up bays spotless. Even though there is no dog walk on site, it really doesn't need one, as there is a wonderful walk just up the lane just outside the gate. Walking into cheddar is easy and safe, if you use the Strawberry Line dissused railway track which is now used for walkers and cyclists.  There is are two well stocked supermarkets in the town, including a Subway.   i will be returning to this site again.  The Moor's

A good stop over

This a nice clean & tidy site. Very friendly & helpful wardens. It's missing a playing field to have a good kick about. Used this site as a stop over for going down to Cornwall.

Cheddar visit August 2015

Stayed at Cheddar for 5 nights. A lovely site, friendly staff and good, clean facilities.  Access to the site is somewhat narrow, but not a problem if you time your arrivals/exits well. Unless you prefer shade, avoid the pitches which back onto the course of the old railway. Also, you can expect a little noise from the adjoining football club. They had entertainment on the Saturday night which appeared to be quite loud but it stopped before midnight. Probably only an issue if you are trying to settle young ones down. The recommended walk into Cheddar village could do with a clean up (it seems not all dog owners are as conscientious as us).  Cheddar village and the gorge are lovely, plus it's convenient for Wells, Glastonbury, Bath etc. Sadly, Burnham on sea & Weston Super Mare are looking a bit jaded and are still in need of a makeover. We headed a little further afield to Minehead for a bit of 'seaside', and we're pleasantly surprised. Somerset is a lovely county and well worth a visit.

Lovely site, great staff

Can't rate this site high enough. The CC staff on site are amongst the most helpful I have ever come across and helped me select a good location for my wide-ish awning &T5. The location is perfect for the town of cheddar and its shops and is only about 5 miles from Wells. The site is immaculate and is very well managed. We really enjoyed our stay here which we planned as a stopover enroute to Cornwall.

Cheddar in July 2015

This site is positioned in a lovely part of the country with many opportunities for visits. We visited with our daughter and grandson for three nights on our way to Cornwall. The site is very well looked after by the wardens who are most welcoming. We did find the showers a bit cramped but the wardens cannot do anything about the historic design of the facilities. Take care when entering the site - you need to swing to the right as much as possible for the very tight turn into the site entrance. Whilst there we visited Dunster Castle/Village and Weston-Super-Mare both of which we enjoyed greatly.

Good Site

Had 2 nights in July, toilet and shower block very clean and tidy. We used this site as a stop over on our way further south due to having young children. Would certainly spend longer at Cheddar to investigate further.  Just a little note to the Caravan Club.....A little playground for the kids would make this site even better.

Lovely site

We have recently spent a week at this site. Really clean and tidy. Lovely area to visit. Large spaces on pitches - we had torrential rain which flooded some pitches but the water cleared really quickly. Loads to do - cycling the strawberry line is a must as is visiting the caves. We also went pint trekking at Tynings - highly recommended (10 minutes from site). Will visit again!

Nice Clean Site

Spent 5 nights in July at this lovely site.Nice and clean site with helpful and friendly wardens.I agree with the idea of a traffic light system but it could cause problems on the the main road. But hey, this is why the club give earliest arrival times to minimise traffic problems.Easy walk into Cheddar and the Gorge tourist area which is very nice.A Tesco Express and Large Budgens Supermarket within walking distance.
