Why stay here ...

Pine Trees Camping is a rustic site with no electric hook-ups or hot water. Set in a tranquil and secluded location with fabulous views this spacious site is a perfect base for exploring the local area by foot, bike or car with the Mendip Hills National Park just 5 miles away. The site is tucked behind a Fir Tree plantation and boasts a generous off lane easy access gated entrance. Access to the site can only be made Via Downside Road. Site facilities include toilet block, separate dish washing area and chemical waste point. The site is serviced by a mains water supply.

There is an abundance of things to do nearby such as hiking, cycling, mountain biking, climbing, fishing, golfing, caving, skiing and tobogganing (Mendip Outdoor Pursuits dry ski-slope). Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole are only 20 miles away. You can access local footpaths and mountain bike routes from the site.

The historic maritime city of Bristol is only a 15 minutes' drive away, with its beautifully re-developed dockland showcasing the famous SS Great Britain and Matthew ship, museums, theatres, art galleries and lively shops and entertainment in the city centre. Why not visit the Clifton suspension bridge and Downs Park or Bristol Zoo all close to the lovely Clifton Village which offers a plethora of bustling restaurants and quirky independent shops. Annual local festivals nearby include the famous Bristol Harbourside Festival, the Bristol Balloon Festival and the Weston super Mare beach race.

Backwell is our local village which is 1.5 miles away where you will find 2 gastro pubs, a choice of takeaways (some deliver), petrol station, post office, doctors' surgery, dentist, chemist, and train station. 3 miles away is a larger shopping area, Nailsea, with a Tesco, Waitrose, takeaways, more pubs, and restaurants (Chinese, Italian, Indian) and smaller independent shops.

If it's the coast you are looking for we can recommend Clevedon with its historical pier or the hustle and bustle of Portishead with its marina or for a more traditional English sea side town then a visit to Weston Super Mare with its beach and pier is highly recommended, all are within a 10 to 30 minute drive from the site. There are several fishing lakes locally, Chew Valley, Blagdon and Tickenham.

For the younger visitors Noah's Ark Zoo in Wraxall is exciting as is Oakham Treasures on Portbury Lane, Gatcombe Farm Inflatables (subject to dates).

For those who like a nice tipple a visit to Thatchers Cider for a tour or Aldwick Court for Wine Tasting or even Butcombe Brewery for local beer tasking is a must.

For the golfers we have three local sites, Tall Pines, Mendip Springs and Woodspring Golf and Country Club, there is a local driving range at Tickenham.

If you are looking for a more gentle walk just a short drive away is Ashton Court, The Walled Gardens in Barley Wood and Tyntesfield House. The Rock of Ages named after the hymn can be found at Burrington Coombe.

We are dog, BBQ and fire pit friendly ask when you book.
