Fabulous Place to Relax

Had an amazing long weekend at this beautifully maintained site. The staff are so friendly & welcoming and work extremely hard keeping the site pristine clean. Huge thanks to the staff as I dropped my rings on vacating the site whilst putting the barrier key in the box. I rang the site who retrieved them and kept them locked in the safe until I could return a week later to collect them. Only wish we could have taken the caravan again and enjoyed another long weekend. Alas work intervened. Lovely walks direct from the site and plenty of room for everyone to enjoy. Will definitely be back.

Superb site at a great location

Just returned from an 8 night stay (originally booked for 6 nights but liked it so much extended our stay). My first experience of a CAMC site and I was pleasantly surprised. From the moment we arrived we found a warm welcome. Site managers were always ready and willing to be helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Facilities were so clean and well maintained. The local pub was conveniently located within walking distance and fine for a drink but it’s a gastro pub so we didn’t eat there. The family run dog friendly T’Air Bull Pub warranted a second visit - highly recommended for Sunday Roast. So many places to visit our highlights were the Red Kite Feeding Station, the Nation Park Info Centre and Hay-on-Wye. We will no doubt come back for another visit.

Super site.

Been here several times now and have always enjoyed. The staff are friendly and always willing to help. The site is well maintained and the facilities very clean with more than one toilet/shower block. Pitches (we always use serviced) are well spaced out and flat. Chemical toilet points are conveniently placed and well maintained. There is no on site shop which is slightly disappointing, but on the plus side a mobile pizza van calls every Friday evening for those who want to use it! The site is situated conveniently just off a main road with very good access. Brecon itself is 2 miles away and can be a pleasant walk along the canal. Other tourists attractions are easily reachable by car. Supermarkets and other shops are to be found in Brecon. For those who try this site we recommend the pub and restaurant The Three Horseshoes which is a 15 walk. Very good food. We will certainly return, in fact, we have already booked.

Excellent

Returned last weekend for the 4th time and as usual had a great time in our tourer. Glorious weather, Immaculate facilities and friendly wardens. Whilst packing up to leave my husband noticed our car had a flat tyre so we had to call out green flag. Explained to the wardens that we wouldn't be able to be off the pitch by 12 but they assured us this wouldn't be a problem. We were eventually unable to tow the caravan home so left it in their storage, which again was no problem for them, very helpful during a stressful time. I've only given 4* as the site is very expensive compared to others but as we love it we're happy to pay. There were a lot of children on site, all riding bikes and scooters around the site very fast and totally unsupervised. On my way back from the showers one of the boys rode into me on his scooter as he couldn't stop in time, I had to grab the handlebars to stop him completely mowing me over! Surprised that this behaviour was allowed? as other reviewers have said the site staff are very strict with everything else. One of the staff stood and watched as we were motor moving into our space to make sure we weren't a cm out between the pegs. Despite this we will definitely be going back very soon.

Excellent Site

We spent a few nights here in our motorhome, it was our first visit. Lovely site, the wardens are lovely and the shower and toilet block are absolutely spotless could not fault it at all. Nice walk and cycle along the canal to Brecon and beyond. We will certainly be going back asap.

Great staff and spotless facilities

Had 2 nights here last week, with stunning weather! Arrived about 5 minutes before the 1pm check in time but it wasn't a problem. Friendly and quick check in. Chose our lovely shady pitch and advised wardens pitch number for the barrier key. Then spent 2 glorious hot and sunny days walking along the beautiful Mon & Brec canal (both ways). There is some road noise but it didn't bother us at all. Spotlessly clean facilities (2 blocks) and well kept grounds and pitches. The only thing we missed was the on site shop. Could've done with a few essentials, milk, etc., as it's a long way to carry it back from Brecon, but it's not the end of the world as next time we'll make sure we are fully stocked! Expensive compared to other sites too, which is why we didn't rate it a 5*.

Lovely site, excellent staff

Another brief stay in one of my favourite sites. Facilities well up to their usual high standard and the staff were extremely helpful and diligent. Didn't use the Three Horseshoes this time but would highly recommend it, Instead I cycled into Brecon and got a takeway curry from Zeera which was excellent (but be warned gets very busy so order well in advance). My only disappointment about this site was that the shop remains closed, it was a really useful facility and given how busy the site is I struggle to see how it could not be a going concern as there no other retail outlets in the immediate vicinity.

Beautiful Brecon

Lovely site which is very peaceful in spite of proximity to major roads. Traffic noise was not intrusive. Good dog walk on site with access to stream which was important in the warm weather. Lovely stroll along the canal into Brecon itself. The Three Horseshoes pub is exceptional. Outside appearance and location couldn't be more misleading. We had an excellent meal from the imaginative menu, beautifully presented. Definitely a cut above " pub grub" !! We will definitely return to this site.( I must add however that weather must play a big part in this choice.)

CAMC is getting too expensive and too regimented

On a glorious June day, the atmosphere was broken by a rude and brusque warden. I have no idea why CAMC staff have to be so authoritarian. The site itself is convenient for walks into Brecon, lovely walks along the canal, or further afield to the Beacons. Also good walk to good local pub. The site suffers from road noise and some daytime noise from the local army firing range. More than £40 per night - is CAMC a club or a for profit organisation for unnamed individuals? Otherwise usual CAMC identikit regimented sterile atmosphere. Warning: Make sure you park EXACTLY between the pegs. DO NOT arrive before 13.00 hours or you will be shooed away

brecon 1st time visit

Stayed here for 4 nights, lovely site and great welcome from the wardens. Site is located off a roundabout on a fairly busy road so noisy at times from fast cars and motorbikes but site is large enough to stay a distance from it, but was annoying particularly at weekends. 2 large and well maintained shower blocks Site is about 20/30 minute walk along the canal from Brecon where you will find a nice town and also an Aldi. The local theatre was also a nice find and has a great cafe. There is a bus stop right outside the site and the bus comes every 2 hours and we took the bus into abergavenny. There are some lovely walks along the canal a short walk from the site, particularly through the short tunnel and down to the local pub a walk about an hour away. Site was good overall, water pressure was too low in sinks and showers, we were not a fan of the no mow policy for May as the grass was quite long around pitches which attracted unwanted flies and wasps, the club needs to reconsider this policy and perhaps keep the no mow May to the hedgerows as your competitors keep their pitches more manicured. We were also disappointed that the club shop was closed when it could easily offer some food basics and tent pegs etc. as hardstanding was very hard and we had to resort to Amazon delivery. A large unused shop area which could also become a games room such as that at white water club has, would be great to spend the evening. Would recommend and will visit again.
