Lovely CL.. put it on your list of ones to try

Witham Hall Farm
Just had 3 nights at Witham hall, arrived in lashing rain and high wind and 1st thoughts were “ what a lovely site “ . 2 very pretty lakes and you choose where you want to pitch up with masses of room. Yes, you can hear the trains but they are low speed and it did not detract from this lovely CL… Yes an occasional fisherman but I’ve never met a noisy fisherman ! Lovely countryside & walks and close to places of interest . Fantastic value as well. Do yourself a favour and try it.. you won’t regret it

Wonderful tranquility and dog friendly too.

Witham Hall Farm
This site really is a rural gem just a few miles from Frome and Shepton Mallet in a very sunny Somerset. Firstly the area is lovely with loads of lightly trafficked lanes, proper agriculture with prolific woodland too. We stayed three nights with our two dogs off lead all the time, a few walkers came near but not obtrusively. We parked under the trees for shade in this heatwave and overlooked the two fishing lakes complete with a heron in attendance. A forty minute walk was easily taken to the end of Long Ham Meadows, all enclosed footpath and off lead for our dogs who had a wonderful time. EHU is not needed by us and for a tenner a night we were living cheaper than at home. The railway runs behind the site but I'm a train buff so welcomed the passing trains that are out of sight behind the woods. Great experience and can recommend the village pub less than two miles away, The White Hart at Trudoxhill.

A stunning location

Witham Hall Farm
This CL was in a stunning location, but unfortunately what detracted from our stay were the local dog owners exercising their dogs off their leads on the CL instead of adhering to the public footpath on the opposite side of the lakes. Also be aware that trains do run adjacent to the CL during the day and through the night on weekdays. Fishermen also have access to the CL, which became evident during one day of our stay. Not knowing who had access to the CL did give concerns regarding security. If security was improved with the CL being sectioned off so that the public did not have access, this would be one of the better sites on the CL network.

Lovely Waterside Retreat

Witham Hall Farm
This back to basics CL has charmed us. From first phone contact where we were advised to stop at the farmhouse (ample off lane parking for outfit) where a map clearly directs you to the nearby CL's gate. Envelopes are provided should you wish to pay in advance or during your stay. Approach is easy, even with a large twin axle and 4X4. Plenty of level area to pitch on, we didn't need to use levelling aids. Fresh water, elsan, recycling and rubbish are well organised. Elsan disposal point a delight to use, has its own tap too. No formal pitches, pitch where you want. We and the other two outfits had pitched close to the waters edge. Plethora of bird and insect life to be had. You are able to walk around the pools but you can only pitch on one side. The pool is shared with anglers but we only saw one the two days we were there. Lovely tranquil experience but you need to be aware of the adjacent low speed branch rail line. Trains were infrequent and not loud at all. Don't let the rail line put you off visiting. Our only regret is that we don't live closer to this CL as it could easily become one of our favourites.

Probably the best CL

Witham Hall Farm
I know reviews are by their nature subjective but we certainly don't know what could be done to make this site any better for us. If only there were more of these non EHU sites at a reasonable price.
