Why stay here ...

Our CL is located in the beautiful Somerset countryside with a magnificent view looking out to King Alfred's Tower. We are a working sheep farm so there are usually sheep grazing in the fields surrounding the site.

King Alfred's Tower, part of the Stourhead Estate, is a 160ft high folly which, if you're feeling up to it, you can climb the 205 steps to the top where the views across Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire are magnificent. It is open March to October.

There are lots of lovely footpath and woodland walks nearby and our village pub, The Old Red Lion, is only a mile away where you can enjoy a delicious meal whilst admiring the stunning view across the Brue Valley.

We are situated 4 miles from the interesting small town of Bruton where amongst other things you can visit (free of charge) the renowned Hauser & Wirth Somerset gallery. We are only 5 miles from the exquisite National Trust property Stourhead Gardens and House – definitely worth a visit.

There are many other lovely places to explore, including Frome with its quirky shops. On the first Sunday of each month from March to December 'The Frome Independent' comes to town. This is a mini festival taking over the whole town, bringing together the best local food and drink, artists, retro, vintage, collectables etc. plus street entertainment.

Historic Bath is only 23 miles away and boasts its superb Abbey and Roman Baths, along with excellent shops.

Other places well worth a visit include Wells with its wonderful Cathedral and Bishop's Palace garden (15 miles); also Glastonbury with its legendary Abbey Ruins (18 miles). Why not climb the iconic landmark Glastonbury Tor while you are there?!

Then there is Cheddar with its spectacular Gorge and caves (27 miles) and Longleat in Wiltshire (12 miles) with its famous Safari Park where you can drive close to wildlife such as lions, tigers, giraffes, elephants etc.

There are various historic National Trust properties not too far away, including Lytes Cary Manor, Montacute House, Barrington Court and Dyrham Park.

Other local attractions are Wincanton Racecourse, Orchardleigh Golf course (near Frome), Haynes International Motor Museum at Sparkford and the outlet shopping destination Clarks Village in Street.

Our peaceful site provides you with the perfect base for an excellent holiday exploring our amazing county of Somerset and enjoy all that it has to offer.

Amazing 10 days.

Longfield Farm
We arrived at Longfield Farm having come through villages from Williton via Bridgwater and Street. There were some tight spots with the caravan on tow, however we arrived safely. The day was very hot but we quickly got set up. We had a wonderful stay especially getting to know the owners Mr and Mrs Shields and their lovely but amusing dogs. We shared together about where my wife grew up in Somerset and Katherine told us about their church in Wincanton where we went on the Sunday and received a lovely welcome at Wincanton Community Church. On site we enjoyed watching the many sheep in the fields around us, most of the time we were the only ones on site. The weather was too hot to do a lot of walking and my health is not too good either so we spent time in Stourhead a wonderful National Trust place near by. Thank you so much Katherine and Steven for welcoming us to your field, it was fun seeing your dog try to steal my sock and my wife's flip flop only to drop then a few feet away. It all went together to make our holiday so very special.

if you want peace and quiet, this will do the job. great views, quiet, we were the only ones there. dark skies so good star view. And the swallows. used twice now, definitely a place to come if you want to switch off, yet still be close enought to Bruton, Hauser and Wirth, Stourhead, etc

Great views and very quiet

Longfield Farm
This is a truly remote location with stunning views. Booked for one night, was the only van there and took a while to find a level spot so would definitely recommend bringing levelling ramps. Limited facilities, but lovely owners and their dog called Doug, best night's sleep in ages thanks to how quiet it was. Recommended if you want to get away from it all!

Lovely CL with friendly owners

Longfield Farm
Stayed at end of May after a very heavy rainfall. Owners were very helpful, especially when I got stuck, (my fault). Walked to King Alfred's Tower through owner's fields and had an enjoyable day even though it was raining. Close to Haynes Motor Museum and Stourhead House. Great views from site. Very relaxing with sheep and lambs in neighbouring fields. This was our second visit and will return.
