sunless pitch

After 3 quiet campsites this is disapointing. There is constant noise from the A7 traffic, although this quietens at night. The pitches for shorter term campers along the bottom of the site are in the shade, well about 80% of them, which would be great for summer, but I feel really cold, which isn't what I want from a winter in Spain. We have asked to be moved but were told there is nothing. Wifi 5 euro a day, facilities fair and clean, the toilets are small so the buckets for toilet paper are in full view. There is a wonderful indoor swimming pool. Can't wait to leave.

Really enjoyed our stay here

This was our first foray into staying in Spain in the winter and we made the journey through France down to Cabopino in 6 days. We have a young dog, so mega driving days aren't for us! The site is beside the Main coastal road and yes you can hear it, but it really isn't that intrusive. We had pitch B12 which had sun at different times of the day, so very nice. The shower and toilet block nearest us was kept immaculately clean, so great. The Laundry room has enormous waters and driers which cost a 4 Euro token from the office per go. They are so large I easily did my bedding and towels in one load. The site has a bar and restaurant which we only used once for a take away, good!. There is also a very smart Italian near the entrance which served really lovely food. The only thing that lets the site down is the shop. Its really very poor, sells a lot of sea side bits and bobs, some wine but only UHT milk - ugh!!, very little fruit or veg and only occasionally some bread rolls. For such a big site it needs to be a lot better. Most of us MH owners walked the 2km to Lidl but you are limited on what you can carry. If we hadn't a dog we could have caught a bus, but no big dogs on Spanish buses, except those that will sit on your lap or you can put in a bag! Sadly our boxer is a bit big for either option! You cross over the motorway bridge and down the road through the car park to the beach. This has a small marina and several bars and small restaurants around. There are lots of boardwalks through the sand dunes to explore, its very dog friendly. Finally a good tip for any of you with pets, our dog was poorly whist we were here and we found a wonderful vet near to Lidl called Los Cipreses. www.cvloscipreses.com The lady there spoke excellent English and Bubbles the boxer was soon back to full health again and it was very reasonably priced. Hope this advise help someone like us, when their dog is poorly.

December Visit

This is a large site with many cabins, and looks like a lot of long term residents. The pitch we were allocated was a good size, but under pine trees, as most were in rows A, B, and C. At this time of year, more sun would have been welcome, but the sunny pitches were all taken by the long termers. Also, in the first few rows / sections, the road noise is greater, but still only a low hum, so not really an issue. Despite the site being quite full, it was very quiet at night which was good. Not all facilities were open, as its low season, but the attached Italian restaurant and its takeaway / mini market were, and really top quality as well. Walking to the beach was easy, where if you're lucky the sunsets are lovely. Buses to Fuengirola and Marbella are regular and easy to find and use. The shower / toilet block nearest to us was just about ok - I've certainly experienced cleaner and more modern ones elsewhere, but it did the job. Overall we enjoyed a week on this site, which could very easily raise standards and become really excellent.I would certainly go there again.

Great site in a lovely location

On arriving, got to choose own pitch. Quite full so not many sunny pitches left. Pitch size OK for a 7m motorhome. Nice site, lovely location, 5min walk from beach and port. Great restaurants around. Good indoor swimming pool. Friendly staff and campers. Lidl 30min walk away. Very dog friendly area in winter months. Loved it. Will be back.

Always Trying

We were recommended this site as winter stay. Once booked in for a month I did panic after reading the reviews, However we arrived on site reception staff could not have been more helpful, they changed our allocated pitch to a larger one which was so fantastic we booked another 3 weeks.. one shower block is new and the cleaning ladies are around 3 times a day. The bins are emptied 3 times a day so never smell and all conveniently placed. Short walk to Cabopino beach and marina over the A7 Which you can hear but we didn’t find it to annoying. Everyone one talks about the cats and yes they are around but we have seen more on other sites. We had a wonderful December/January here with good company great surroundings and will definitely book again. To many people are so quick to criticise Just enjoy the sun and life.

long term excellence

arrived from our home in France beginning February. 2nd winter visit. Close to plenty of (english restaurants meaning Indian and Chinese) cost  of living less than France. easy for Gibraltar-tax free and Morrisons. Nearby Port features many good eating places. Rack of ribs at JorJes particularly good. Spectacular drives into mountains behind Marbella with fabulous views. Site well managed, new shop open-good and not expensive, fresh bread every morning. Evidence of regular maintainance by small army of workers. Always had hot water for showers. Reception very helpful. Hired a car through reception-cheap rates for 5 week hire. Pool superb. Italian restaurant on site too expensive, but Indian within 400m excellent-bonus no driving. will book again for next year and try for longer. Only downside is traffic noise if too close to southern end of camp, try to book from Plots D onwards, ABC a little  noisy if you want peace and quiet.

Winter at Cabopino

We have returned from 4 weeks at Cabopino and we are wondering why! The site is "rustic" and the toilet blocks could do with an upgrade but it all works and is kept very clean. Some of the pitches are a bit small and can be difficult to get into with a caravan unless you have a mover but if you have booked and they know that you have a big van and an awning then I am sure that something suitable will be available. Water points are a bit sparse and grey water has to be taken to the motor home service point so it could be a something of a hike. Elsan points are beside each toilet block. During the winter there are many Brits on long stays but they were very inclusive and there is plenty organised by the site if you want to join in. The indoor pool is great and was warm and not crowded when we were there, although during a Spanish holiday weekend there were lots of children about. The big plus for this site is its situation. It's a short walk from the beach and the new board walks which are brilliant. The beach bar is lively even during the winter months and there is a good selection of restaurants at the port. The restaurant on site is independent, quite expensive but is a great experience. The attached take away is good value and useful after a hard day in the sun and when no one volunteers to cook the evening meal. For those who do not want to drive the frequent bus service stops just down from the site and connects with the rail network. Except for the Spanish bank holiday the site is quiet later in the day and a good number are probably fast asleep by 10:30. For us it is an excellent location and we will be back next year most likely for a longer stay. If you want to be in this area, away from the high rise of Marbella etc. but within easy reach then it's a great choice.

3 weeks in the sun

This is the second time we have driven down to Spain and stayed at Cabopino, this time for 3 weeks and we were not disappointed. Good sized pitches, excellent atmosphere and friendly staff. The facilities are very good although grey water waste can be a nuisance if not on a serviced pitch. Will definitely be staying again
