COVID secure but not Boar secure.

We have been coming to this site for many years and it is basically an excellent site but at the moment there is a real problem with wild boar entering the site at night. Damage is being caused to site property and on occasion to personal property I.e. cool boxes outside. At the moment it is very risky for children sleeping in awnings/ pup tents and care is needed as regards dogs. The boars are entering site at 9.30 at the moment so care needs to be taken when walking back to their outfits. We are on site at the moment and support sues comments previously.

Reply from the Campsite

Thank you for your review. Last winter and this winter we have renewed the fencing around the camping, therefore the wild boars can not enter anymore. We have also installed a new gate at the entrance, that is closed during the night, therefore no wild boars can enter during the night. It seems to work very well and since January we have no boars on site.

Our 11th year here.

We started coming here during August in the days when we were still working and loved it but found it very busy with the noisy animation going on until Midnight. These days we come in September and love it even more. We book a Pitch with a private bathroom near to the pool and bar. Happy hour is great and good value. Shop is well stocked and takeaway is excellent. Lovely bread and fresh croissants etc. Staff very helpful. Lovely coves within a short drive and a cycle track to beach in Agay. Bus to St Raphael is useful on market day. Great cycling in the forest in our electric bikes. Only negative really are the wild Boar which roam the site at night. We’ve learnt to leave nothing out but they still wake us up Scratching about and leaving wild boar snot on the step etc! The site is well fenced so I presume they come in through the main entrance and wouldn’t be too difficult to stop!

Great site in a lovely location

We stayed for 12 nights and had a wonderful time helped by the perfect weather and beautiful surroundings. We were allocated a pitch on arrival but also told we could select from a number of others. We went for the pitch allocated which offered us plenty of shade and was reasonably close to the washrooms which were excellent and cleaned regularly. This is a large and busy site and has plenty to offer if you want to make use of it. The bar area at happy hour is a nice start to the evening and the pool area and surrounding views are lovely. There is water and drainage on all pitches but there are very few which would have worked for us in our caravan as many of the drainage outlets are uphill. To enable us to make use of both we had to go right up to the boundary of our pitch which our British neighbours obviously took exception to. The beaches are lovely as are the Esterel mountains and the surrounding towns which are very lively and nice for a change from serene Agay which is a little gem. We had a wonderful time and would visit again.

Cracking site

Just arrived back from camping esterel and I have to say overall a great site We booked for the week sun to sun but that’s because we had too as in peak season And peak 2 weeks probably, bit of a pain and expense as probably wanted to stay 5 days We ended staying 6 nights as had to move to next site We have a Motorhome booked special pitch but probably looking around at other pitches I think we just had normal pitch not the biggest for our Motorhome and awning but adequate So we didn’t complain, pitches are sand and dirt you will need ground sheet or a tarpaulin Otherwise you will be treading dirt everywhere not the best pitch as we didn’t have very much privacy with our neighbors behind very very close Pool area and bar and restaurants all very good we had a meal in restaurant excellent although The manager was rude a lady I waited another 15 mins for my meal so basically I ate on my Own while my partner and 2 children had finished their meal we complained but she was stroppy tothe point it spoilt the evening, my duck was very nice when it finally arrived . Agay is the closest town you need transport we had bikes but ok going down but coming back very hilly,we ended up hiring a car organised by reception delivered to site for 4 days made all the difference, parking a 7.3 Motorhome not easy around this area Overall good site with good facilities, great bar area site is exceptionally clean giving the amount of people on site, reception staff very helpful I would return again A few niggles but you can’t have everything

A great 5 star site in a fantastic location

This was our first stay at Esterel Caravaning but hopefully it certainly will not be our last ! ! We had not booked but upon arrival we were shown where to park our outfit and given a plan of the site and invited to look around and to choose our own pitch. This we did and decided to stay at the far end of the site away from the potential source of noise, i.e. the bar and pool area. Wi fi connection was fine for us, the 2 shower blocks closest to us were cleaned 3 times every day. Stunning scenery all around our pitch, together with plenty of shade. Choose your pitch carefully is my strong recommendation but this will obviously depend on the needs and the make up of your party. All staff members, reception, cleaners etc. all were very helpful.

A difficult review to write!

This is a tricky one as we experienced the site from two perspectives, as a couple and as grandparents when we were joined by our young family. We were greeted warmly and were able to select our own pitch. Most pitches have some shade, are on dusty ground, some have good views. The facilities offered were adequate, the usual bar, restaurant, shop, take away etc but could have been so much better with just a little more flair and co-ordination between what seemed to separately run concessions. For example there is a lovely courtyard but you can't order a meal and a drink from the same venue which mean't that people were sat around eating their pizzas out of boxes accompanied by drinks bought separately, such a wasted opportunity, especially for young families. The restaurant was not very welcoming for children and the staff complained when our grandson dropped chocolate on his chair. But when we returned on our own we had a lovely evening and good meal. The indoor children's pool is ideal for little ones but there is a problem with the new play area as the children were getting static electric shocks from the equipment. The pool complex is good, apart from the paving around the pools which are extremely uncomfortable to walk on, the new equipment is great for children of around seven to ten years old. The local area is beautiful but again perhaps the beaches are not ideal for small children as the sand is very gritty. So to sum up fine for adults, less so for young children and we came away feeling that there was nothing to complain about but it could have been so much better with more attention to detail.

Not great to say the least

We opted to spoil  ourselves and went for their top pitch , private bathroom washing machine dishwasher and a jacuzzi, on first arriva site is in a beautiful setting, however we were shown to our pitch , neither hard standing or grass more like dry mud with the odd patch of grass type weeds and a scattering of gravel, the private bathroom was as pictured although during our 11 night stay not cleaned by anyone other than us constantly doing so due to shower water not flowing away properly more going out onto the pitch under the door than down the drain and it stank so air freshness purchased, decided to have a jacuzzi on doing so found that while using it all kinds of dirt and scum was long to us and the sides of the hot tub, I grabbed some kitchen towel and wiped as much up as I could. I Proceeded to take said towel to reception stating hot tub is dirty, the lady refused to take the towel from me and said someone will come, well here it starts to become a little more frustrating as a little man arrives in a van and opens the hot tub lid and closes it then off he trots nothing said nothing done , I left it an hour and made my way to reception only to be told the hot tub was clean and I was making it up after much debate the guy was coming back, this time I shows him the scum and started to explain to which he waves his finger and says as clear as day I don't speak English, off to reception I trotted again their adamant it's clean and that's that , the man who looks after jacuzzis will be back in two days, when he arrives low and behold the guys hovers it all out cleans all scum out changes some water cleaned filter and tops up water 1/2 an hour later says it will be fine now, why not admit it was dirty and clean it in the first place, I can only imagine that the first guy was the same guy who maintains the water park as that was absolutely rotten too I wouldn't let my dog in there let alone kids, needless to say never again
