Great location for Strasbourg

We stayed at this site for 6 nights in September 23. On arrival at the site we were welcomed by great reception team. We wanted to fill the water in the Motorhome so needed to search out the well hidden, only water tap on site for Motorhomes. Our pitch was narrow but there was plenty of room to sit at the back of the van. The facilities were clean and there was plenty of soap, loo roll and big showers. This is a city site so it is busy, do not expect peace and quiet, but it is great for cycling or getting the bus or tram into the city. The bar was open however the pizza restaurant was weekends only as we were out of season. The church bells chime every 15 mins 24 hours a day! Be prepared!

Disappointing

Booked for a 2 week stay in July/August, which was admittedly too long - 4 days/nights would have been adequate. The pitches were ridiculously small, even for our little outfit, we found them very overgrown with bushes, poorly maintained and the ground was basically just mud, which turned into a quagmire when it rained. There were some interesting places to visit, but they were easily an hours drive. The site states it has free Wi-Fi, but it dips in and out at a whim and is very slow.  The park is a nice walk to the tram stop, but watch out for push bikes, there are many cyclists and they hurtle along. On exiting the camp it is very difficult to see owing to the position of the post box.

On the plus side the staff were friendly, the facilities clean and the tram into town was very regular and easy to use. The local church bell chiming every quarter hour was lovely to hear. The proximity to Germany was good. On the whole I would only recommend this site for a short stopover or a weekend break, definitely not worth the 4 stars displayed at the entrance.

Conveniently located site

This site is well placed for visiting Strasbourg with excellent bus and tram services. It has access to a good bike path which takes you to Strasbourg and beyond. The sanitary facilities are good with paper, soap and hand dryers along with hair dryers. However pitch allocation seems somewhat random with no consideration of unit size. We were allocated 2 pitches which were impossible to get into(with a nearly 3m high Motorhome) with lots of trees with overhanging branches. I resorted to walking around the site and requesting a specific suitable pitch after the second inappropriate pitch was offered. I would suggest having a low threshold for requesting another pitch if the offered one is unsuitable. Having said all this, we would return simply for the convenience of the location.

Ideal spot for visiting Strasbourg

We stayed here for two nights. The pitch was narrow but plenty of space behind the motorhome for sitting out in the evening. The swimming pool was very clean and plenty of seating. A short cycle along a very safe cycle path into Strasbourg. The showers etc were very clean and plentiful.

Good city centre site

Don't let the negative reviews put you off. This site us a busy urban site close to very good public transport links into Strasbourg. We stayed here for three nights to visit the city and yes the pitches are worn and showing regular usage. However the facilities are first class and the staff welcoming and eager to help. Quiet at night and road and daily noise negligible.

Ideal city site

Idea city site, bus and trams into the city from stops nearby. Reception has all the info required. I think more of a stopover for a day or two, we were on our way to Germany. The pitches alas look very tired and could do with a bit of attention.

Sadly disappointing.

This site is very convenient for visiting lovely Strasbourg on very efficient electric tram service. The reception is an attractive building which belies the otherwise badly maintained pitches many of which are very muddy from rain. They are also narrow not giving much room to sit out. The general facilities are good, well maintained and very clean. However, the disabled facilities are woefully inadequate. Suitable facilities are very important to my husband who is an above knee amputee, and like ALL disabled people need both a seat to shower under and a separate seat to be able to dress in the dry. Neither was available in the nearest to us, not even a seat on the WC. We made respectful requests for a simple plastic garden seat which some reception staff tried to deal with but nothing was forthcoming. Celine was the only member of staff who seemed to understand what we needed. But it would seem that their requests on our behalf were falling on deaf ears to the ‘technical’ department. Only when I was forced to ask to speak to a manager (but was told there was no one available) was another call made to the ‘technician’ who then came and resentfully handed me a simple plastic stool. It was very upsetting that their attitude made it abundantly clear that they considered me a nuisance and was complaining needlessly. The empathy was non existent. I would much prefer to have given a wholly positive review here but after our experience here, I wouldn’t come again and wouldn’t recommend it any other disabled people.

Handy for overnighters

Good points; Excellent position if you are visiting Strasbourg. Excellent transport. Excellent stopover if heading for Bavaria, Austria, Switzerland, Brenner pass. Toilets cope well with heavy demand. Frequently cleaned. Fuel 200 yards away. Walk to supermarket is 10 minutes along path to left of camp gates as you exit left along the perimeter. Turn left at the end of path until you pass Protestant Church and bear right to main road. Turn right after you have crossed, Lidl on left in another 100 yards. Not so good; Very very busy. Poor quality pitches due to massive use. Very narrow roads making motor movers a desirable extra. Minimal sized pitches. Long walk for water and has to be paid for. TIP, take a metre of garden hose with screw on tap fittings and use main tap hidden next to washing up sinks in the blocks. Not a very salubrious area but parks very close.

Great city site for visiting Strasbourg

We stayed here for 2 nights to visit Strasbourg Christmas market. As previous reviews say, it is muddy when it’s wet because the site is on clay soil. However, most pitches have gravel strips to park on and wooden pallets are provided to create a mud-free step. The site was well-maintained and the facilities were modern, clean and heated. Plenty of hot water in the showers. Easy access to the city centre via bus, which stops very close to the site entrance, or via tram, which is a level half-mile walk. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Grey waste and water point is just inside the site entrance, and you need a token for the water. Rubbish points at the front and back site entrances - back gate was locked when we were there. Overall, this is a great city site for visiting Strasbourg and we would recommend it.

Enjoyable stay, great location

Booked this site on recommendation of a colleague and was glad I did and ignored the bad reviews as we had a great stay. Campsite is really easy to find and a fantastic location for Strasbourg. Trams into the city were frequent and easy to navigate and the cycle trail was mostly off-road and felt safe. Reception staff were helpful and friendly and found us another pitch when the one allocated to us on arrival was not suitable. (Pitch 7 has a large, low hanging tree and there was no way we were going to fit a motorhome under it!) Toilets and showers were modern and very clean and the swimming pool was heated and very quiet, we had the pool to ourselves one afternoon. Wi-fi was brilliant, even managed to steam some of the World Cup matches. Yes, the litter bins were a short walk away as many other reviews have mentioned but we thought that was a good idea, wouldn’t want them too close because of smell and flies. Signage for water and chemical toilet disposal could have been better but we soon found it. We stayed here for 6 nights which was a couple of nights too long. Ready to move on after 4 nights but that wasn’t because of the site but because we had finished seeing Strasbourg.
