1 night was long enough for us...

..so we moved on even though we had booked several nights. pitch was muddy and a pedestrian throughfare, electric supply on and off, insufficient water taps so campers cut across pitches, loose dog using pitch as toilet, toilet block (the one away from the office near the camping sheds) was popular with the youngsters climbing doors, throwing clothes around, sinks were a general smoking area. should have read the reviews before we booked. comments relate to June 2017.

Great location for St Malo

We stayed here t the end of June and this was our last site as we were catching the ferry to Portsmouth. The site is ideally located for this purpose as it is only 10 minutes from the ferry terminal. It is also just a few minutes from a large shopping mall called Le Madeleine which is really a one-stop shopping experience as anything can be purchased under the one roof. The site has great facilities for children and these include Crazy Golf and both indoor and outdoor pools as well as a play area. The bar/restaurant are good and there is a great Creperie on site which makes excellent crepes and gallettes. The sit is ideal for visiting other towns and beaches such as Mont St Michel, Dinan, Dinard, St. Cast etc. I should imagine it gets very busy in the high season but we found it met our requirements admirably. The staff at reception were very friendly and most helpful. We would definitely recommend this site and we will certainly use it again.

Holiday in June

This site was a pleasant and restful site when we went in June. I don't think it would be very restful or peaceful in the school holidays. I t was a very central site to get into st Malo and to travel elsewhere. It was also ideal if you did not want to take the car you just had to walk a little way up the road and you could get the bus. No worries about parking. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Great Campsite spoilt by Electrical Trips

Great Campsite. 6amp electricity supply continually tripped when only a 2.5amp microwave was in use. Several requests for help - an alternative supply was given to us. After some work our original supply was ok, but tripped during the evening with just the microwave in use. Toilet/Shower facilities were of a good standard.

June 16 visit

Our recent visit to this was was the last site to visit after a 3 weeks stay in France and unfortunately the site did leave a very disappointing memory for my husband and I. The site is ideally situated in St. Malo but the lack of management, and site knowledge was exceptionally poor.  The young staff managing reception seemed to be muddling there way through.  We were offered a pitch that was totally unsuitable, the access was too tight and the pitch too small as well as being very wet and muddy.  Litter had been left by a family on a pitch and it took 2 days before the site staff moved it. Overall this site was nowhere near the usual caravan club standard.

Response from The Caravan Club:

I am sorry to hear that you did not have a good experience on La Ville Huchet, especially as it was the last site of your holiday! We would always help with problems like this, and try to ensure you the best possible pitch. I hope you won't have any problems again, but please bear this in mind for future holidays.

Response from Domaine de la Ville Huchet:

Dear Sir or Madam,

We apologize if your stay in our campsite did not entirely reach your requirements.

First of all we are sorry the pitch you received at your arrival did not meet your expectations. Indeed when it happens in low season, do not hesitate to come to us to check together where you can move to be more comfortable for your stay (most of our pitches are around 100m²). We recognize the weather was quite rainy in april and may, and some pitches were muddier than others, we really apologize for it.

Also, we are sorry if the previous family left their garbage on it. We are particularly attentive to the cleanliness of the campsite, and would have appreciated your remarks at your arrival in order to quickly catch up with a possible mistake of our maintenance team.

Regarding the standards, we are surprised of your remark. Of course there are always improvments to add, but we invest a lot of energy and take good note of customer expectations year after year for 12 years now. And we have a very good global satisfaction (8.1/10 with Olakala) with positive remarks from Caravan Club members about the customer service and the quality of the campsite and its facilities.

We hope we answered your remarks and would be happy to welcome you once again in our campsite.

The Domaine de la Ville Huchet team

Fairly good all round site.

Generally a fairly good site. Nice new clean shower block and good facilities on site with helpful staff. Noise level could have been a little less on some evenings but otherwise ok.

Ville Huchet, Could do Better

We have just returned from this campsite (June 2016) and had visited it in Sept 2014 and I feel I just have to review it and not for any good reason. The site looks neglected with the hedges and grass needing cutting. The surface of the plots was also uneven and patchy with many of them showing dirt/mud in large areas. The toilet bloke, although clean, smelt strongly of toilets/sewers. The showers never ran hot and despite reporting this on day one, nothing changed in the 9 days we were there. We only had 1 hot shower in that time and that was at the swimming pool. The electrical connections were a mix of French style plug and the international 3 pin type and all that I tested and checked with other users, suffered from reversed polarity. The electrical supple was also interrupted a number of times over many days, sometimes for quite a period. The reception staff were very slow and didn't appear to know what to do most of the time. In 2014, it took us over 30 mins to book in despite there being only 1 other couple in front of us and that was just the same this year. I only ever saw 1 man cutting the grass and using a streamer, no wonder the site looks neglected, it needs a team constantly attending to these tasksĀ to keep up with it! The swimming pool area is good and is the only redeeming feature of this site. The other good feature is that its location is only 4 miles from the Brittany Ferry terminal. All in all, I would not recommend this site!

Curate's egg

We stayed here for three nights recently. The pool is good and it is a friendly site....but there are some downsides. The electricity supply is definitely ropey; I was unable to power my cooker sufficently to boil a kettle. You will also encounter reverse polarity and a French style socket. The on-site shop is not great. However quiet or busy reception was, you would always end up waiting. It is close to St Malo though.
