Center Parcs Style Camp

Visited August 2022 for 13 Nights. This site is conveniently situated being 90 miles from Caen and easy to find as it is literally just off a main road. The main issue with this very busy site is that as you drive past Reception you have to drive through a busy thoroughfare. People are either walking or riding their bikes as you drive in or out of the site and are oblivious to traffic. This can be challenging if you are towing a large caravan particularly if they are setting up the early evening market on a Tuesday?? as the road is made even narrower! Except for that… The pitches are fine, not over generous but ok for double axle with full size awning, room to sit and have BBQ and room to park the car, we have had bigger. Apparently lots of pitches have disappeared over the last few years and have been replaced by mobile homes . This is Northern France so the weather will be similar to Southern UK, we were just fortunate to be there during a heat wave. The range of activities on offer is great. Horse riding, Pedalos, Zip wire courses, climbing wall, archery etc, all reasonably priced. My 10 year old daughter loved this site and did most of the activities, some more than once! I should mention the fabulous golf facilities, which we did not use. The swimming dome is great and contains slides, wave pool and lazy river, it was busy but not over crowded in August. If you want to do a proper swim you can if you go to the Hotel pool on site .Lots of loungers which was a big plus. The toilet block in our part was modern and clean but a bit more dated elsewhere. It was a long walk from our pitch to Reception, about 15 minutes, down a steep hill which was worse on the way back! The evening entertainment was poor in comparison to what we have seen elsewhere. The site mainly has a mix of Brits,Irish and Dutch with a few other Nationalities. The site pub even served Guinness on draught! The take away had long queues before opening times, we did not use though. The on site Spar is well stocked and contains everything you would need, however, if you fancy a spin the nearest supermarket is 10 minutes away. Local attractions are Mount St. Michel which is a must visit and pretty medieval towns such as Dinan are close by.

Far too busy for us

This site is aptly named as a resort as it reminded us of Alton Towers. We purposely went out of high season thinking it would be quieter !! How wrong!! Coach loads of children arrived each day making it very busy. The only eating places were fast food outlets as the restuarant was closed for a seminar. The pool area was ideal for families and a child's idea of heaven! However for a keen length swimmer it was a nightmare. The outdoor pool was small and the water very warm. It would be a good idea to allow this one area to be used by adult lane swimmers only. Toilet block was great and very clean-no complaints but the pitch we were given was not well maintained and the staff had to search for the waste as it was so overgrown, The shop was adequate and sold fresh croissants baked on the premises. Reception staff were very welcoming and accommodating-However the whole place was just too big and busy for us .

Style over substance

It's a great site for families there is no doubt but we are here for 1 night as couple with dogs on 30th October when the site will closed on 2nd November. At €41.80 it is the most expensive site we have stayed and much of the facilities are closed already. No hard standing pitches and grass pitches are sodden. Also, there is no specific dog exercise area and wi-fi us only available in 2 specific areas or expensive to purchase.

Lovely Site but some improvements required for large pitches

I stayed here for two nights in July with my family. This is a very large site but is very clean and well presented. The swimming pools are excellent and I spent four hours with my son outside in the heated pool while it was raining. Despite the fact the site is very large it was very quiet from 11pm. A couple of nice restaurants on site with one doing various takeaway food including cooked chickens. However, the bar was quite small and whilst the outdoor patio was okay, it didn't have any shelter to cater for the weather in Northern France. It rained for two days but was warm so disappointing that canopies were not available. The main disappointing feature with this site was the facilities close to my pitch. I booked a large pitch, which overlooked the lawn and the chateau. The pitch was separated by two large planters and despite plenty of room, everyone was encroaching on other pitches. This was the only site in France that I visited where you were not escorted to your pitch. Not a massive problem if you are staying for a couple of nights. The pitch was close to a newly built toilet block, with showers, individual cubicles with sinks and toilets. It was one big area, which didn't have separate areas for ladies and gentleman. The area was clean with plenty of hot water. Directly outside was a dishwashing area, however hot water didn't appear to make it from the toilet/shower block and I quickly realised why people were going into the shower block with bowels to bring back hot water. The map showed a chemical toilet disposal point close by, but I couldn't locate it. I asked a couple in the next caravan who told me it was the hole in the ground, which had a tap. Yes you guessed it this is the same place that I had just filled my fresh water carriers. Personally, I thought this was very poor, fresh water, waste and chemical toilet disposal in the same place. I have to say that the special pitches were much better, in a different location with a dedicated chemical disposal point. If you do visit this site, I would recommend a special pitch.

Big, busy resort with something for everyone in excellent location to explore Brittany

We visited for 12 nights in August 2016. Our children loved this site so much they asked to return again this year so we are booked for a second stay in 2017. The tropical indoor pool is much smaller than pictured with a very small river section (almost just little bend round a rock) and can get quite crowded. Head down there by 11 am if you have little Ones or like it quiet. The huge wave pool is excellent as are the other outdoor pools. The slides in one aqua park are abit dangerous as you can't see the children at the bottom before you get on the slide so your kids are at risk of being landed on, I just asked my kids to avoid these slides. There are loads of activities for children and teenagers but most are contained in central area away from pitches so peaveful holiday is still possible with the option of all the action. Dol de Bretagne and Dinan are lovely towns with excellent cafes and restaurants and dinnan has interesting castle and museum about local history. St marlo is very close and lovely historic walled city. The children loved the regular onsite entertainment and tried lots of activities. You could stay the whole two weeks and have an action pack never boaring holiday. This site was recommended to us by friends who visit every year and we can certainly see why. We had fantastic holiday.

What a fabulous Site!

If you have children (& even if you don't) this Site is fantastic. There is so much for children to do, kids will absolutely love it. Without a car there doesn't seem a lot close by ..... But that doesn't matter, the activities & facilities are more than enough. We only stayed 1 night on our trip to the Vendee, but would have no hesitation of returning for longer. Without doubt this the best site we have ever visited.

What a fantastic site in Brittany this is.  While it seems to be very large, the site is spacious and open so never seems crowded even in peak season.  We had a Large pitch and it was at least twice the size of those you would expect in the UK with hedges on 3 sides so nice and secluded too.   We were close to one of the more modern blocks of facilities and they were always nice and clean.  The on site shops, restaurants and pools were very good and didn't charge too much of a premium - the charges for activities were also very reasonable. There are also plenty of nearby towns with supermarkets and French Street Markets so you have plenty of options for food and day trips out as well. There was plenty of space to walk around among the trees and explore, lots of cycle tracks and a great atmosphere.  For our first foray into caravanning in France, this was a fantastic introduction and will be hard to beat!

Wonderful family holiday

Just back from 2 fabulous weeks in Domaine des Ormes. Booked onto huge pitch near new toilet block. Pitches separated by lovely hedges so you had great privacy. Went with 3 boys aged 15, 12 and 4 in our caravan. Should have taken a tent for older boys as there was enough room on pitch for them to camp, and others seemed to do this. This site is huge, with lots of other companies hiring mobile homes, safari tents, tree houses etc. There were several "camping" areas and ours was about 5-8 minutes walk from main centre of resort. There was a Spar shop which was always well stocked, a pizzeria (sit in or take away) a bar and a restaurant. Great fireworks display on Friday night, circus on Wednesday night, and the other nights usually had some sort of theme organised. Older boys benefited most from all activities on site. 3 swimming pools, water skiing, pony trekking, pedalos, bike hire, 3G football pitch, high ropes course, climbing wall, crazy golf. We picked a great couple of weeks for weather, and also it wasn't as busy as it will probably be in a week or two. Free wifi in reception, pub, restaurant, and pizzeria. St. Michaels Mount nearby is a must to see. Supermarket in nearby Dol de Bretagne. Overall a fabulous holiday which we will remember for a long time

A must for young families

We have visited this site quite a few times over the years, normally July. As previously said, it's like a resort and if you gave young children up to say 16 it's a must, with so much to do. We used to come with friends and our teenage sons, last 3 years been with my son, his girlfriend and our granddaughter. My son still enjoys it, as well as girlfriend - granddaughter (now 2 1/2 - absolutely loves it). We have last 2 years had lovely very large pitch close to the new toilet block (lovely).  Site is well managed and enjoyable, however we went bit earlier this year - last week of June for two weeks - and for some reason there was never enough hot water in the showers? Not had this before, ever, then found last few days before we left when it got busier there was plenty of hot water? All said, barring unseasonable weather first week (not sites fault!) we had a lovely family holiday. Recommend for children from 3/4 years upwards (most extra activities have minimum age) - also enjoyable for adults as plenty of activities or just walking/swimming and good wine!??

A big site

Large pitches. The one we was in was large, sloped too much but peaceful, in what was a large and busy site. Toilet and shower block modern and clean but a distance away.Good height to toilets. No dedicated chemical toilet emptying facility there. Had to drive to an older facility to empty toilet cassette in a basic outdoor wc! In light of slope caravan was difficult to level. Requested a change of pitch as there was some in a walled garden, more centrally situated perhaps more noisy? But was declined this request despite pitches seemingly available. The site overall was not for us but would be great for families with young children as there is a lot to do. We were there with our daughter and grandchildren who were staying with Eurocamp. Apart from the lack of more suitable toilet blocks and chemical toilet facilities the Spa shop was well stocked and reasonably priced. Lovely croissants and bread. The site is well situated to explore the surrounding area, St Malo, Dinan, Combourg and Dol de Bretagne. The local markets are great and the walk to neighbouring village market on Sunday morning was great.  Will not likely return as it was not for us though.
