Early July visit

Stayed here as a retired couple early July. Site well run and facilities clean with plenty of hot water. I personally prefer unisex loo arrangements but accept not always found in France. We had a comfort pitch which was of a good size and away from pool area which we requested. Be aware that reception closes between 12.30 and 1.30 each day so time your arrival not to coincide with these times. We used the campsite shop for bread and croissants each morning but not the restaurant as we thought the menu was quite limited and a bit expensive. Migons supermarket in Neydens was fine but beware it doesn’t sell any alcohol and is a fair walk downhill if you are on foot. We preferred Intermarche at St Julian Geneve. Site is in a characterless, modern, suburban area but is well placed for visits to Annecy and Geneva. We found it easy to park in both and very reasonable although Geneva is pricey to eat. Also took the car up the Saleve for great views and visited the lovely village of Yvoire on the lake then took a water bus across. It was also well placed for us to visit relatives in Annemasse. There was the Tour Etape whilst we were there which is the amateur cycle on one of the Tour de France stages so site was busy with cyclists at the weekend. If we visited again we would probably choose to be there before July or in September as school holidays had begun in Europe so there were quite a lot of children quite rightly enjoying the pool area but we could see at quieter times it would be a nice area to sit and relax.

Misleading Dog info 06/22 but nice site

Note - as at 06/22 the Site was operating a mid summer one dog per pitch rule. The CMC ‘Ideal for Dogs’ (plural) tag was therefore misleading for us with two dogs. By a quirk of fate they allowed our two dogs but be warned to check. Nice enough site, mainly intense seasonal cabins on the section closest to facilities. Seems well maintained and very clean. We visited to do a Geneva City trip, own car and it is very convenient. Suggest obtain the Swiss Vignette on French Motorway prior if intending to continue onwards on the Motorway. Much hassle to obtain one locally. The French CritAir tag was also accepted in Geneva. The back road border crossing was desolate unmanned and the Shell Garage sold vignettes. The Vignette(s) we’re getting checked at the Motorway border crossing.

August holiday

We have just returned having spent 10 days at La Colombiere. The site was well run, clean and well presented. Our pitch was very spacious, with plently of room for an awning and tents. The toilet facilities could use some updating and the shop is only really useful for bread. Great site for children with lots of places to visit, Geneva is a short bus trip away. The local area of Neydens and St. Julien en Geneve is very modern and lacks characters

AUGUST 2018

We've recently returned from a 2 week stay here; the staff are very welcoming and English is spoken if needed. The site facilities are excellent and our serviced pitch had plenty of room. The swimming pool area again had plenty of room and even on the hottest days we could always find a lounger. There is a Migros supermarket nearby but we preferred to use the Intermarche in St Julian for shopping. The site restaurant looked inviting but we only used the takeaway and the shop for the usual morning bread and croissants. There is a huge amount to do in the area: we visited Geneva, Mount Saleve (cable car) , the Gorge de Fier, Annecy and the towns along Lake Geneva. Yvoire is certainly worth a visit as is the Chateau Ripaille near Thonon (they sell their own excellent wine!). You can get to the Jura mountains relatively easily (via Geneva); the luge (rail toboggan) near Mont Rond is great fun! The office helped us book canoe hire from Seyssel (discounted price available) and we enjoyed a trip down the Rhone with return by minibus to the start. The highlight was the trip up to the Aiguille de Midi at Chamonix, again the office helped us get this booked, the views were worth every penny! Whilst nearby we took the Mont Blanc tunnel through to Italy and enjoyed the afternoon in Aosta. During the day there are some activities put on for both children and adults and for the most part the 'all quiet' after 10pm was ocibserved. We would certainly consider coming to this lovely family run site again..

A Good Site for a Stopover or a Short Visit to Switzerland.

An attractive well kept and managed site. Toilets and showers are OK, but can be a bit strained if the site is busy. The pitches are excellent and level. Excellent swimming pool. A half hour's walk downhill and uphill takes you to the nearest supermarket and bus stop. There is a private operator bus service one way to Geneva (about 30 mins) and the other way to Annecy (about 60 mins.) There are only 3/4 buses either way per day. Sometimes they turn up full and you have to wait 2 hours at least for the next one or do another half hour's walk uphill and downhill etc.

Enforced extra stay!!

We'd booked 7 nights at La Colombiere - and because of a car problem (it had to go into the garage for repair) we stayed an extra 10 nights. A great site to be "stranded!" The proprietors (a family) could not have been more helpful and considerate - even down to offering us a lift to the garage! The site is superb, big pitches, spotless "sanitaires" and a great pool complex. Huge thanks!!

Bodkins and Bruces visit in July 16

Thoroughly worth letting fellow caravaners know this suited us really well, we had good size pitches, the pool and facilities were excellent. Nice and quiet after dusk and pleasantly comfortable after the warm sun of the day descended into night. Annecy, Chamonix and Aix les Bain close for a day trip, we missed out on Geneva, so will need to return.

A really good site

We only stayed here for 2 night on the way back from Italy. There are 5of us & the food in the restaurant was in my view over priced so we only booked once but the pool was most welcome. There's not a lot in Neydens but in a nearby town you'll find a Super U
