Very good indeed highly recommended

We arrived thinking to spend 1 night but enjoyed it so much we remained 6. The staff are friendly and very helpful and when a group became very noisy late one evening, dealt with a difficult confrontation extremely well, ensuring a return to calmness. Service in the restaurant was very courteous and they were even able to provide us with a head of garlic when we needed one! The upper shower block is excellent with all locking doors, herself saying it is the most luxurious shower block she has encountered in 60 years of camping. The lower are also more than adequate. Local walks are good as are the shops. The bird watching, if that is your thing, is absorbing & very varied. Should you, as you must, visit the Monastery it is a treat. Also, we were given a reduced rate on showing our Club Card making it the cheapest but best equipped site on our trip so far!

Warning

The site suffers from lack of maintenance. A lot of the toilet doors do not lock and the showers leave a lot to be desired. When we visited in May the swimming pool had some green water in and was not in use although nobody told us that. Unfortunately we had booked to return to the site on our return journey and found not much had changed. OK the pool had been cleaned and was fit for use but there was no change in the facilities. We were very disappointed with this site and would not stay there again or recommend it to anyone. One good thing was the views which were very good.

Comment from the Site:

Whilst I cannot deny that the installations such as the shower blocks are somewhat dated - they are clean and all the doors should lock. Please be assure if there was a problem and it was reported to Reception we would always send our maintenance team to fix it as soon as possible so I do apologise.
As for the swimming pool, it doesn’t open until June normally and therefore doesn’t get cleaned until a week before so yes, it would have been green after the winter.
I’m really sorry you were disappointed with the site as the majority of our customers enjoy their stay with us.

Excellent site for walkers and looking for a quiet life but dusty

This is a terraced site with views through the trees over the valley on most of them. Reception staff were really helpful and spoke english. Pitches were variable in size so you need to go and look first. They are hard standing and can get dusty and shade was variable. There are two blocks of showers etc - the one at the top was fine apart from the odd fitting being missing like a door lock so can't be shy! The bottom showers were of a lower standard in a portable building and could get a bit wet floorwise. Both always clean though. Great walks around but make sure you've got water as in August it was boiling hot. All the better to come back to a really nice pool and a bar. Food was fine as well.

Ideal for a visit to the waterfalls at Piedra

Nice site but a bit out of the way. Take the time for a trip to the Monastari Piedra and a walk through the park to see all the waterfalls, stunning. The restaurant is adequate and there is plenty of others in the village if you are adventurous. Not a lot of English spoken here but then that is part of the fun! Toilets and showers are adequate. Beware of the breezblocks marking the pitches when positioning your outfit as they are below the mirrors and easily missed!

A long way from anywhere

We stayed for 2 nights early May.  The site is terraced next to a lake.  The roads are very quiet and somewhat challenging in places. This site is a long way from major roads.  There is not much in Nuevalos but it does have Diesel and a couple of small local food shops.  The Monastery is apparently very popular in Summer due to it's grounds but expensive at 15e.  The site does not have widespread wifi and you have to use the free wifi at the bar or reception.

Off the Beaten Track

We stayed here as a stop over on our way to the south of Spain in Oct. We were the first Caravan Club members to stay here. It is a beautiful but challenging road to get to and from the site and could prove difficult in inclement weather. On arrival the reception was closed until 4pm and we were supposed to enter and find a pitch ourselves but the arch was too low. Luckily the restaurant was open where we waited until we could get the alternative direction to enter. The receptionist was very friendly. Beware of the entry to site as due to steep incline we grounded our tow bar. One shower block, which was clean. Because of steepness of the site it was difficult to get around. Restaurant offered good reasonably priced food and drink. You need to stay longer than one day to explore the area, there is a monastery nearby that is a popular tourist attraction. This is not really a site for a stopover, more for a few days. A very beautiful area.
