Dog poo on pitch

First impressions not great. Lady in reception nattering to friend which after a long drive is not what you need. Husband sitting waiting patiently in motorhome at gate with air con on in cab as warm and dog was panting whilst i was despatched to book in - when receptionist finally turned her attention to an arriving guest she tutted at us having the engine running outside - would have said something about customer service and heat but French not that good. Most expensive site i have stayed at for having a dog with us which I would not have minded but the stench of dog poo as we got to our severely tight pitch was overpowering. There was dog poo all over one side of the pitch so we had to put the motorhome over the mess in order to put the awning up on the cleaner side. Facilities okay - quite a walk to beach if hot but some beautiful places along the coast line. Wouldn't stay again - due to dog poo on pitch and the tightness of the pitches - they really did cram you in You get one chance and this site blew it - my husband was heaving.

Needs refinement......

Firstly, the staff at the campsite do not speak any English at all. Secondly, the campsite does not provide any toilet roll in any of the sanitary blocks, so do not get caught out (no pun intended) We stayed here for 7 nights in mid June and it was a very quiet campsite. The pitches vary in size, but we picked a very good sized pitch which had plenty of sunlight available. From what we saw, most pitches had a slope of some variety. There are plenty of standpipes available for getting water from. There are 2 toilet blocks, one near the pool and one towards the back end of the campsite. The second block was only partially open and there were enough facilities, but I would imagine it can get very busy in peak season. The pool is adequate for the size of site and is a decent enough depth. The facilitilies for emptying your chemical toilet are a bit primitive. There is basically a 6 inch diameter pipe that comes out of the ground by the toilet blocks. Basically, unscrew the lid and pour empty your toilet into it......check your aim if you are wearing flipflops. Breakfast is available everyday at reception from 9am. The Nuazan beach is around a 1 mile walk away although there is a steep hill involved, but there are alternative ways of getting there. There is a supermarket (Intermarche) around 1 mile from the site which also has fuel. The entrance to the campsite is quite steep which is not a problem entering the site, but when leaving the site it will give your clutch a good workout at the top. There are miles and miles and miles of segregated cycle paths in the area. It is easy to cycle to Palais Sur Mer, Palmyre Zoo, Phare du Coudron, Tremblade to name but a few.

Green not sandy!

Lovely campsite with friendly welcome laid on by the hosts. This was in French but we got most of it. Felt that the pictures were a bit misleading - beach is about 15 min walk. Also in middle of local houses, although this also means that its only 5 mins from the small town with its market and other useful shops. Park behind with link from the site, although clearer signing to get into it would be useful! Didn't use the restaurant but heard some praise and others not.

Dogs not allowed on beaches

Lovely little site with good facilities & extremely helpful staff. At time of staying no shop or bar/snacks open. Very disappointed after a half hr walk to the beach in 30 degree heat that dogs not allowed on the beach at all. Walked back to site & hosed them off . For this reason only would not pick this town again.

Val Vert

Lovely site but I've only given 4 star overall as we camped in high season mid august. Camp full to bursting and we struggled to get on and off our pitch with a caravan. To be fair we were right at the very end of the site in a really tight place. Overall the site once a bit emptier was lovely. Showers and toilets very clean and good. Vaux sur mer daily market very good and a lovely park running alongside the site. Beware because of stream and ponds running between the site and the park mosquitos are out in abundance at night. All in all a very clean and friendly site, staff very helpful.

First stay but will return!

Stayed here for 11 night in August. Great clean facilities. Regular rubbish collections. Friendly helpful staff. Close to village, park, beach, tourist office (with free wifi). Coast path to Royan is lovely. Visits to Saintes, Cognac, Rochefort and Chateau Corboun well worth it. Recommended. Will definitely be returning.

Location, location, just remember its France

We returned to this site after a very pleasant stay in 2015. The location is great, the Nauzan beach is about a pleasant stroll of a mile away, the coastline is just great for cycling and walking. the atmosphere is quiet and calm (30th June - 5th July), the local village 200m away with a daily market; a hypermarket is only 15 minutes walk away. Try the Maison Blanch at Nauzan place for a drink or a meal, just fantastic at sunset. The place is family run and the attitude seems to be - this is the site, enjoy it as it is. Even during the Euro football the bar was closed most nights, the people who run the site do a great job, they just do it in their own way. Overall the site just works, both times we've stayed there we met Brits who were repeat visitors and some who had been there for weeks. Just go and enjoy.

Peaceful site

This year was our third visit to this quiet and peaceful site a short walk from the town of Vaux-sur-Mer. Being able to walk into the town and visit the daily market, visit the boulangerie etc. is one of the key attractions of the site. You are also near Saint Palais, with its larger market and excellent beaches and, of course, free parking. We were there in early July and this year there were lots of vacant emplacements. Most of the holiday makers were (very friendly) French, with relatively few British holiday makers, which we prefer. The toilet facilities are immaculate and cleaned regularly. The pool is quite small, but adequate and great for cooling down in the afternoons. The rubbish bins are plentiful and emptied daily and you are never far from a water tap. All in all, a delightful site - we will be staying there again. Recommended.

End if April

Very quiet & peaceful at the end of April, at one point only one other van. However only 1 toilet block open and this was uni sex, which I think should  be mentioned in CC brochure. Only one toilet with paper, & no handwash basins in toilet area, but outside, which is typically French. No key needed for disabled toilet, which meant everyone used it, and it appears none of toilet users can read signs in any of 3 languages saying use brush after toilet use !! ( no different than UK) The staff rectified the issues on cleaning, which was late afternoon,  so much better than CC UK first thing 9.30/10 am when everyone wants to use facilities. Very convenient as in walking distance of village, big supermarche and beach.. Will stay again next year Will stay again .

Excellent site for our holiday

We arrived here (2 caravans and a motorhome) on 16th August and had an excellent and very peaceful two weeks holiday, as most of the French families left over the next few days and the site was nearly empty. The toilets and showers were spotless every day, whatever time we went over to them. Chemical toilet disposal is a bit eccentric, being a drain pipe sticking out of the ground with a cap on it, but the arrangement means that it doesn't smell like some others do. The pool was good, very clean and warm. Convenient for the daily market in Vaux, and not too bad for the beach at Nauzan Plage either, it took us about 15 minutes walking to get there. The staff are good, especially the very smiley guy who empties the bins and cuts the grass every day, who introduced himself as Mr Bins! A nice site, and we would stay there again any time.
