Great site

Lovely young lady warden who greeted us warmly and was a mine of information about the local area. Facilities are dated and basic (I believe they belong to the racecourse) but are clean and perfectly adequate. It’s a short walk into town which is unremarkable but pleasant enough. The pubs in the town are OK but few serve food. The large Marstons pub on the dual carriageway near the station does serve food but is not dog friendly. This site would be a good base for the Peak District or the excellent Truma Service Centre which is 6 miles away and was the reason for our visit.

Soggy but great stay

Had a good weekend recently. Stayed for the weekend of 'Winter Ladies Day' meet. Although race day was dry there was a lot of rain which therefore left the pitches very boggy. Facilities as always are very clean although, as we say after every stay, they could really do with a good revamp. 10 minute walk & your in the town Centre. Sally the Warden was great. We had a problem with our dog & she was so lovely & helpful with us.

Beware of gate post!

We stopped from Fri 11th Oct to Thursday 17th October and found the site to be a bit basic, probably good for a stop over? Site staff were lovely and friendly. There is a gate post on the right hand side as you arrive that could be better positioned! As the arrival area is small and not well defined, we pulled up behind a motor home and went in to book in. I was asked to pull forward to clear the gate, the motor home moved all of 6 feet forward! So I put full lock on and slowly began to pull round it. Unfortunately, the over-swing at the rear caused the van to be punctured by the bracket sticking out of the post! I put he jockey wheel down and unhitched, so that I could swing the van off the post. Not the best way to start a weeks holiday! I have made a modification (added an external socket) to "repair" the hole - so be careful!

Very pleasant and helpful wardens

We had a lovely 3 days around a race meeting. The wardens were very helpful and pleasant. They had also put alot of effort into a coffee and cake charity morning that went very well. I very pleasant stay, have been before and will definitely go again.

Convenient for town centre with lovely staff

Booked as an overnight stay on our way up to York. We found the location very good, with easy access for our tag axle Motorhome. The staff were very welcoming and we had a good pitch. We stayed on a non race weekend, so it was really quite. A 10 minute walk into town with a good array of shops. Only niggle was the ladies toilet/showers seemed to have a bit of an odour and the gents shower was cold when my partner used them in the late evening. Overall a good, pleasant stay.
