Lovely Site in a Great Location

Uttoxeter Racecourse Caravan Club Site
We spent two weeks from the 7th to 21st July and we really enjoyed but it was spoilt a little by inconsiderate people which is no reflection on the site itself or the Wardens. Despite masks being required to be warn in the communal areas, approximately only 10% of site users wore masks. Also for some reason, some people found it really difficult to follow the guidelines of the wristband system. On our first weekend a middle aged couple had their son and his girlfriend with them. On the Saturday night they were playing Monopoly in their open awning and the young girlfriend thought she had to say the words F... Off on each square she landed on. Luckily they left the next day. The following weekend three or four groups got together as one and the music was far too loud. Another caravaner politely asked them to turn it down which they did but could be overheard goading her until the Warden turned up to have a chat with them. They quietened down but acted like petulant children that had been told off. My last rant, due to the dry weather the dirt road was very dusty and a lot of dust circulated in the air when vehicles were travelling too fast. One Motorhome driver thought he was on a race track when looking for a pitch and in doing so sent a large cloud of dust all over an unfortunate couple who were eating their lunch outside of their awning. Sorry to be a moaning old so and so but lets see a bit more respect for one and other. As a few reviewers have mentioned, the toilet block could do with an upgrade although the wardens kept it thoroughly clean. The hard standing pitches were covered in weeds but I believe the Wardens are unable to apply weed killer etc, as it is the responsibility of the Racecourse staff which is a shame. Apart from the above, it was one of the best caravan holidays we've had in the 15 years we've been members. The site is in a great location for the town and numerous supermarkets. The race day was brilliant but it was a shame the hot air balloon festival was postponed to September.

Uttoxeter vacation

Uttoxeter Racecourse Caravan Club Site
Just back from a weeks stay at uttoxeter race course and what a lovely peaceful site location is very good for walking into town and for the train station. Shower block is a bit outdated but it served it purpose and water was lovely and hot Grass areas were kept immaculate and clean Racing days are a must get cheaper tickets to go other side and have a bet. Just be warned if you dont want to get your van/awning soaking wet dont pitch up near the rails as they have sprinklers on the course and they come on with no warning Would definitely recommend this site

Excellent stay, great racing!

Uttoxeter Racecourse Caravan Club Site
Lovely stay at this site, Aileen and Steve were always really helpful, facilities were spotless. Fab racing, easy dog walk round centre of course. Peaceful stay, easy to find. Walking options bit limited from site, but lots if options bit further afield. Didn't venture into town so can't comment on that, but lovely racecourse, had a great time 👍

Good location close to town

Uttoxeter Racecourse Caravan Club Site

First trip to any Caravan and Motorhome club site, as just joined, very organised site, staff very informative and friendly, list of things you might have forgot able to buy at site shop. Ordered fish n chips which was delivered to pitch at teatime, brilliant service. The only real downside was that the toilet/showers were not kept well and the SHOWERS were the worst I have experienced in years of camping . Turned the first shower on red hot so turned down slightly was then freezing cold and after that wouldnt heat up at all !! Tried all the other showers out and none had any hot water, ironically they had stickers on saying beware very hot water, other campers in there said how dangerous they would be as random scalding hot and cold. Spent an eternity in there trying to get a shower, hubby thought I had got lost ! Hopefully next site i try will be better, shame as site was very convenient, being close to the town and half an hour from home.

Comment from the Club:

Many thanks for your review and welcome to the Club. We are so sorry to hear you had issues with the showers during your stay. The Site Staff have been in touch to advise they are currently investigating a problem with low pressure to the toilet block. The electric showers cannot cope when the pressure drops too low and fluctuates between scalding and freezing so the site has now closed the showers for safety reasons. They are aware that the stable block at the racecourse is also affected and understand that the racecourse staff are investigating to trace and fix the problem. Unfortunately the site staff were not aware of the issue until Saturday morning and took action as soon as they were made aware. We hope this doesn’t put you off staying at one of our campsites and we look forward to welcoming you again soon.

Update 17/06/21

Our showers are now operational again! Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Lovely weekend weather

Uttoxeter Racecourse Caravan Club Site
Arrived at site on Friday at noon. Walked over to site office to check in as the motor home was taking a long time to fill with very low water pressure or faulty tap. The lady on reception was far from helpful and very rude and abrupt when she asked us for our membership card we’d left in the van. This must have got us off to a bad start as we then asked if we could find a pitch with two next to each other as our friends were only 15 mins away. This was also met with “NO! They are not the rules” which I understand but the park was only 1/3 full at the time so we couldn’t pitch up and had to wait. Then the showers were very poor and 1 minute freezing cold and the next minute scalding hot ! If we’d had younger children I’d say they were borderline dangerous and after battling them myself for several minutes had to give up and leave with soap in my eyes. I felt to intimidated to complain as I know it would have been met with more abruptness. There was also no dog walking/ lead off area
