Stayed here for the first time in a caravan

This is the first time we have ever stayed on a Racecourse site - really didn’t know what to expect. However, we arrived in torrential rain and before I had a chance to open the car door, Sally appeared, umbrella in hand, to escort me to the office!! Never expected that, never had it before! We had torrential rain all that night. First thing next morning Sally appeared with plastic square tiles to allow us to walk across the grass. She did this with everyone, by the way! Always upbeat with a smile. I also have to mention the innovative planting! So imaginative and inventive - she rescues things others bin and uses them in such an imaginative way, A discarded umbrella becomes a flower feature, an ironing board becomes a feature outside the laundry etc etc. I simply cannot praise the wardens enough! We weren’t there on a Race day but will definitely return and, hopefully experience a race day and the atmosphere.

Interesting site

We stayed here when there was no race on so the site was peaceful with plenty of pitches to choose from. The site is immaculate. Be warned that if you choose a racecourse side pitch you are likely to get wet -from the sprinklers! We found this quite amusing (and we’re woken at 6 am by the regular swish of water hitting the van) but it might have been more annoying for others. I’m not sure how things would be if it had been raining a lot. Facilities are spotless and fine. Wardens are lovely! A brilliant example of calm whilst answering daft questions. It’s an easy walk into Uttoxeter and we can receive Waitrose and the White Hart. National Trust Shugborough and the National Memorial Arboretum are about half an hours drive away. My only issue is probably with the racecourse operator. Signs to the racecourse and the entrance to use we’re clear when we arrived but once on the racecourse it wasn’t clear which fork in the road to take. It wouldn’t take much to sort this out. More worrying was the state of affairs when the racecourse operator locked all three entrance gates for several days and put a security guard on the middle gate. There were no signs telling you to use this gate and you would have driven past it to get to the one signposted for the caravan site. I’m not sure what people did then! Again it wouldn’t have taken a great deal of effort to put a sign up!

Rally at Uttoxeter Racecourse

Recently returned from running an ICFR [International Caravanning Fellowship of Rotarians] at Uttoxeter Racecourse Club site and I can't praise and commend the Wardens Sally and Steve highly enough. From the moment of first meeting they went out of their way to help and make us welcome during a period of very wet weather even to putting flowers in the main club awning where we met for morning coffee 'just to cheer it up'. After first meeting they remembered every persons name [ a great skill in itself and helps to make us welcome], they provided mats so that we could avoid soggy ground, pointed us to where we could borrow chairs and tables and simply went the extra mile to ensure we had a successful rally. Sal and Steve are without doubt an asset to the Caravan and Motorhome Club and are working exceptionally hard to uplift an old site with dated amenities [that actually belong to the racecourse not the club]. Everything is spotlessly clean and attractive flower beds are in the early stages of being established. If allowed to stay for another year or so Sal and Steve will have lifted the site to be among the best in the Midlands. As a club we simply can't thank them enough for all they did for us. Real gems. Thank you for helping to make our rally the happy and successful gathering it was.

Uttoxeter race course attending Acoustic music Festival 2019

For previous visits to this event we stayed on the festival ground but now that we are members we decided to stay on the Caravan & Motorhome site. We realised we had made the right choice when greeted by Steve & Sal who couldn’t do enough for us. What a great site for events & race days made even more enjoyable by having such enthusiastic, helpful & nice caretaker staff. I would suggest that management consider investing a bit more cash to make a good site great. Will definitely be planning return visits.

Excellent First Club Site Experience

We made our first ever Club site stay at Uttoxeter as we were attending the Acoustic Festival of Britain, which was taking place on the Racecourse. From the moment we arrived and were greeted by Sal and Steve, we were made to feel very welcome. The site is level and the pitches are spacious and well-maintained, and although it was full over the weekend we were there, we never felt crowded. The toilet and shower facilities belong to the Racecourse and are, admittedly, a bit dated, but are kept absolutely spotless by the wardens. For a first experience this was excellent, and we told Sal and Steve as we left that they, and their site, were a credit to the club. We're now looking forward to two more Club site stays already booked for later this year.
