Overnight Stop

We used this site as an overnight stop on our journey down to Annecy. The owners were very welcoming and the "indoor" pool was a welcome sight after a lengthy crossing with Le Shuttle. Pitches were grass and flat making it easy for a quick stop. The only comment I would make is that the surrounding roads are quite narrow and with local cars parked on them it made the exit interesting. The site is down a fairly steep incline off the road, which also means a steep incline up back to the exit.

Pleasant short break

Have stayed for overnight and short breaks. Pitches are a good size and close to amenities. No toilet paper provided but facilities more than adequate. Friendly and helpful staff, who speak reasonable English, should you need it! Close to the motorway, near a supermarket with fuel.

Site in need of more attention

No toilet paper and soap, bring your own - not unusual in France but indicative. Little things like all the bins full up, shower sprays dispensing a dribble of water, the site needs more care and attention. Perfectly fine for an overnight stop but no longer. Easy to get to, close to the motorway is a pro.

Very Bad Experience

We stayed here for two nights in June 23 on our way back to Calais. The campsite is being run on a shoestring - the owner, his wife and one other person. The bins were overflowing, the toilets had no soap or hand dryers, the showerheads were a joke. The pool water looked cloudy and I saw no one in the pool the time we were there. The nearby river was milky and a bit stagnant with lots of flies. The nearby village was run down and had no charm. We had a meal in the campsite restaurant the first night. It is only opened from 7 - 8 so the staff are running around like headless chickens trying to serve the tables. Our plates were thrown at us and the waitress ran away to her next table. We had a problem with my wife's meal and when we tried to speak to the waitress we were initially ignored. When we eventually were able to speak to her she snatched the plate off the table without looking at it and marched away. I followed her and heard the plate being thrown in the kitchen. I told her we did not want a replacement but a few minutes later a replacement arrived. It was just as bad - lettuce that was discoloured, limp and had flies on it; the chicken was overcooked and burnt around the edges. We refused it and I asked for the bill. They wanted to charge for the refused meal and when I politely questioned that I was met by rudeness and aggression from the owner of the site who was also the "chef". He was working in the kitchen dressed in the same scruffy shorts and t-shirt he had been wearing all day - not even an apron. He told me the food was good and was the "French way" demanding I pay or leave the site. After politely stating our case his wife relented and removed the cost of the refused meal. We have never experienced this level of bad treatment anywhere in the world in the last 50 years.

Very pleasant site

Just returned home after 10 wonderful nights on this site. A warm friendly welcome, good size pitches ( you can choose your own) and we were able to put the awning up on one side and the canopy on the other. The staff work very hard to keep the site looking lovely, including bar, restaurant and pool areas. The small village has a railway station and we used the train twice to travel to Reims and Laon. Both well worth a visit. We used our own facilities so can’t comment on the showers but they were very clean and tidy. Yes you have to take your own toilet paper but once you know that it’s no real hardship. It’s very easy to get to, just 2-3 miles off the A26 so also very useful as a stop over site. We would definitely return if passing that way.

Good pitches friendly staff

Stayed in August for 2 nights. Reception received was warm and friendly. Got to choose our own pitch with a view over the river through the fence. Right in the village of Guignicourt so handy for a small supermarket, fuel and a boulangerie. As has been said before the site is a bit run down and unkempt, the facilities are clean but there is no toilet paper or soap or hand sanitizer. I think soap and paper should be a minimum requirement. Bins as at the other French sites we stayed at were poorly signed so consequently rubbish not really sorted for recycling. Can't comment on the bar or restaurant as we didn't use them. There is a bread service in a morning. Would maybe stay again but only as a quick stopover.

Pleasant Stay

Stayed 5 nights in mid June heading south, and 2 nights end July heading north. Site easy to find, ideally situated short distance from motorway in pleasant village. Different sized flat pitches, many with shade, and free to select own pitch. Very peaceful, and enjoyed chiming of local Church and Town Hall clocks! Sanitary block pretty central, water pipes dotted around site and plenty electric points. Access to nice river walk through security gate, and short walk into village for excellent boulangerie and small supermarket. Fresh bread and croissant can be ordered at reception for following morning. Friendly and welcoming hosts, Limited restaurant and bar menu but reasonably priced and adequate for our stay. Nice clean pool and surround. Yes, a little tired in places and water temperature in showers a little hit and miss, but will be returning next year as for us an ideal driving distance to and from Calais and very pleasant relaxing stay.

Quaint

Our first experience of an overseas campsite. In comparison with UK sites it is not a patch but, as we soon found out, it was better than some other overseas sites. Definitely quiet. Village is pleasant for an evening / morning walk but has an amazing boulangerie. Facilities on site are tired and there is no toilet paper - husband returned to collect some in shock!. Did not empty toilet as the elsan point was filthy to touch. Just needs a bit of love.

Great site for stopover or longer

Stayed here for one night as a stopover, but could have easily stayed longer. The site is on the edge of a lovely village with supermarket, fuel and a great bakery. Staff were very welcoming.Pitches were flat and large. There is a small restaurant which was good value and good quality. It has a pool which can be covered , but we never used it.Good dog walk from the site along the river.
