The Caravan and Motorhome Club and Alan Rogers Travel Group announce winners of the Best European Campsites 2025

From epic wave pools to the stunning lakeside views in The Netherlands, the Caravan and Motorhome Club and Alan Rogers Travel Group are thrilled to reveal the standout winners and runners‑up of the 2025 Overseas Campsites Awards, sponsored by Irish Ferries. This year’s champions showcase the very best European outdoor escapes.

With accolades going to top campsites across Italy, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany and Ireland, holidaymakers are spoilt for choice - offering an exciting line‑up of award‑winning adventures waiting to be discovered this summer. Irish Ferries is well placed to facilitate these adventures, offering up to 20 crossings a day on the Dover- Calais route and up to 16 crossings across the Irish Sea from Holyhead to Dublin and Pembroke to Rosslare.  

Unveiled at the Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show at the NEC on Wednesday 18 February, this year’s awards recognise outstanding achievements, innovation and guest experience. 

Overall winner, Les Castels stood out for its beautifully located, independently run French campsites that offer spacious pitches, great facilities and a relaxed, authentic atmosphere. A special recognition was given to Alannia Resorts, based in Spain, for their outstanding business contribution to the Club; helping to extend the winter sun long stay offering now so greatly loved by members.

Winners & Runners Up

Overall Winner – Les Castels, France

Les Castels is a collection of high‑quality French campsites set in beautiful locations like châteaux grounds, natural parks and peaceful countryside. Each site is independently run and known for spacious pitches, great facilities and a relaxed, authentic French feel.

The brand focuses on comfort, nature and warm hospitality, offering things like landscaped pools, good restaurants and plenty of activities for families. Les Castels campsites are designed to give travellers a special, memorable stay - one of the reasons it was named the Overall Winner in this year’s awards.

The Progress & Innovation Award

Winner: Kikopark Playa & Kikopark Rural, Spain

Kikopark Playa and Kikopark Rural are redefining campsite excellence with a wave of 2025 upgrades – from a new pool bar and supermarket to a shuttle service, modern apartments and refreshed dining and sanitary spaces. With even more enhancements on the way, including a brand‑new reception, expanded wellness area and upgraded premium pitches, both Kikopark campsites prove that every detail, every service and every upgrade is designed to elevate your stay.

Highly commended: Les Ormes, Domaine & Resort, France

A lively, family‑friendly site set in the grounds of the Château des Ormes, with an aqua dome, golf course and plenty of outdoor activities. It’s also perfect for combining on-site fun with visits to Mont St Michel, Dinan and St Malo.In recent years the site has introduced a water ski lift on one of the ponds, unveiled a 4,500m² dome‑covered aquatic complex and, most recently, opened a substantial new shopping and dining hub. 

The Welcome Award 

Winner: Le Château du Gandspette, France

Led by Julien and his team, this is a peaceful site in the wooded grounds of a 19th‑century château featuring two pools, spacious pitches and a relaxed family vibe – perfect for exploring the Opal Coast and nearby towns like Saint‑Omer and Boulogne‑sur‑Mer. Members have described the site’s commitment to customer service as going above and beyond, ensuring every guest feels valued and cared for.

Highly commended: Camping Bel, France

Since opening in 1984, Camping Bel has stayed true to its roots as a genuinely warm, family-run campsite where Jean‑Philippe and Charlène greet every guest with pride and personal care. Their dedication to thoughtful service shines through, and with Club members awarding consistent 5‑star reviews, it’s clear that exceptional hospitality is at the heart of every stay.

The Sustainability and Environmental Awareness Award 

Winner: Vakantiepark Delftse Hout, Netherlands

A lakeside haven near the historic centre of Delft, with spacious grassy pitches, friendly staff and an ideal base for exploring The Hague, Rotterdam or the nearby windmills at Kinderdijk. This site earned their Green Key certification in 2007, with an impressive 550 solar panels across the site which generate 50% of daily energy. They remain committed to improvement, with a clear focus on sustainable practices and encouraging greater environmental awareness.

Highly commended: Ca'Savio, Italy

Set on a stunning Blue Flag beach and across the lagoon from Venice, Ca’ Savio offers two pool complexes, spacious pitches, cycle routes, family fun and easy access to boat trips. The site actively conserves natural resources by reducing energy and water use and enhancing biodiversity with a dedicated flower and insect area. Its partnership with regional environmental agency ARPAV, underscores its strong commitment to environmental stewardship.

The Small / Charming Award  

Winner: El Molino de Cabuérniga, Spain

A rural retreat in northern Spain’s Cabuérniga valley, surrounded by mountains and bordered by the Saja River. Its meadow‑style setting, stone buildings and mostly sunny pitches create a gentle, rural atmosphere, with opportunities for swimming, fishing and riverside walks right on hand.

Highly commended: La Venise Verte, France

A peaceful riverside site in the heart of the Marais Poitevin Natural Park with a pool, new jacuzzi and direct access to canoeing, cycling and scenic village strolls.

The Most Dog Friendly Award

Winner: Le Château des Tilleuls, France

A family‑friendly and qualidog certified site near Abbeville and St Valery‑sur‑Somme, with a bistro, pool, tennis courts and plenty of space for relaxed stays close to the Baie de Somme. It’s well placed for cycling along the Somme towpath, seal-spotting and exploring nature reserves. With a fenced dog park, agility area, dog‑friendly bars and plenty of scenic trails, pets are woven naturally into everyday campsite life. Each dog is welcomed with its own kit and can enjoy comfort touches like mats, cushions and water stations throughout the site, with future plans for a dedicated dog pool and new hiking routes set to make it an even better escape for dogs and their owners.

Highly commended: AZUR Camping, Germany

The four AZUR campsites aim to blend warm hospitality with nature-rich surroundings for guests travelling with their dogs. With multiple water spots, spacious fenced dog pitches and easy access to scenic walking routes, these campsites make travelling with your four‑legged companion effortless and genuinely enjoyable for a relaxed break.

The Most Family-Friendly Award

Winner: Le Logis de Breuil, France

Set on former farm pastures near Saint‑Augustin, Le Logis du Breuil offers guests a spacious and peaceful stay. The site features a large play area that keeps children entertained for hours, a wide open field for running about and an outdoor and covered pool complete with small slides. It sits just 4.5 km from the Charente‑Maritime’s sandy beaches – perfect for peaceful, active family escapes

Highly commended: Le Domaine de la Ville Huchet, France

A château-set destination on the outskirts of St Malo with pirate‑themed pools, mini‑golf, on‑site crêperie and easy access to explore the Emerald Coast straightforward, with Mont‑Saint‑Michel, Cancale, Dinard and even ferries to the Channel Islands all within comfortable reach.

The Best Restaurant Award

Winner: El Astral, Spain

This is a charming four-star campsite near Tordesillas is a popular stopover, thanks in large part to its excellent and affordable Abrasador El Astral grill restaurant. Known for warm, professional service and consistently high reviews, it offers 70 quality dishes, with the standout carne a la brasa alongside a range of inventive and flavourful options.

Highly commended: Le Camp de Florence, France

In the 1980s, the Mijnsbergen family moved to south‑west France to open a restaurant, which has since evolved into a beautiful campsite set within a ten‑acre estate designated as a Natural Site. Still run by Louis in the family tradition, it’s known for excellent homemade dishes made with fresh, seasonal Gers produce, enjoyed against sweeping views of the Gascony hills.

The Most Attractive Award

Winner: Turiscampo, Portugal

A modern, resort‑style site just outside Lagos offering year-round activities and a large range of modern, top-class facilities with indoor and outdoor pools, a spa, entertainment and easy access to Algarve hotspots like Praia da Luz, Lagos and the dramatic Cabo de São Vicente coastline. Turiscampo ensures an unforgettable experience for guests of all ages.

Highly commended: Le Cormoran, France

A friendly, family‑run coastal site in the Cotentin Natural Park with pools and a sauna, Le Cormoran is a haven of peace with beautifully kept grounds and very spacious pitches shaded by palm trees and breathtaking seaviews. The campsite is also perfectly placed for exploring Normandy’s D‑Day history, with Utah and Omaha beaches, Bayeux and Arromanches all within easy reach.

The Most Accessible Award

Winner: Camping de Paris, France

Camping de Paris offers an inclusive, accessible urban escape where guests of all abilities can enjoy a peaceful green setting moments from the city, with direct transport links to major landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre. Its adapted facilities, level pathways and attentive team ensure easy movement and a welcoming atmosphere, making it a standout choice for accessible camping in the heart of Paris.

Highly commended: Le Domaine du Logis, France

Set in a wooded park between St Malo and Mont‑Saint‑Michel, Domaine du Logis offers a stunning natural setting with spacious pitches, smooth pathways and fully adapted facilities throughout the site. With accessible bathrooms and thoughtful step‑free design, it ensures a comfortable, five‑star experience for guests of all ages and abilities.

The Short Break Award

Winner: La Rivière Dorée, France

La Rivière Dorée lies on the edge of Paris, offering leafy pitches and modern facilities with quick access to the city via local buses or the site’s shuttle. The site is the perfect blend of nature, culture, and history, ideal for a short break for club members.

Highly commended: Blarney Caravan and Camping Park, Ireland

A tranquil, well‑kept countryside site just outside Cork, offering spacious pitches and easy access to Ireland’s south‑west. The campsite is the perfect base to start an exploration of Ireland’s spectacular Southwest coast and the Wild Atlantic Way. It’s best known for being a short drive from Blarney Castle, a handy base for visiting the famous gardens and exploring the region’s villages, coastline and walking routes.

Special Recognition – Alannia Resorts, Spain,(Best Business Development Partner 2025, and part of the European camping group)

Alannia Costa Blanca stands out as one of Spain’s largest and best-equipped resorts, offering a huge range of facilities, year‑round entertainment and an easy base for exploring the Costa Blanca. Set 15km inland from the coast near Crevillente, with eco‑friendly features, a spa, gym, heated pools and an excellent restaurant. This site has been proactive in helping grow the Club’s long-stay winter sun experience by working closely with Club staff and volunteer hosts to provide an enticing product for members. They were instrumental in extending the hosted holiday from 11 to 15 weeks, giving the Club an extra 6000 pitch nights to sell.
