Why stay here ...

This large, spacious site on the River Aisne, between the small villages of Vic-Sur-Ainse and Berny Riviére, is open all year round and makes an ideal base from which to explore Picardy and its attractions. It caters well to families in high season, offering a pool complex, three fishing lakes – on which pedalos and kayaks can also be used – and archery. Evening entertainment also takes place near the bars during summer. Provisions are available onsite at the large supermarket and bakery.

Tickets for attractions such as Parc Astérix can be bought at reception, and the site also organises trips to Paris and Disneyland, with transport provided by the site’s own coaches. Those interested in history will find plenty of sights nearby, including the Chemin des Dames and Caverne du Dragon, a labyrinth of tunnels used by soldiers in the First World War.

Winter use, never again.

Spent two nights here, January 2018. On arrival the road was blocked by a no entry banner with a load of French writing suggesting an entry further on. Turns out the instructions were for cars attending a bowling match and resulted in us going about 5 Kms down the road to turn. Reception was shut with no instructions, on ringing the bell on a nearby residence a very young girl who spoke no English managed to convey she would call somebody. Some time later some staff appeared and explained they were trying to deal with potential flooding of the site. All Caravan pitches were waterlogged so we were told just to park round the corner from reception. Hook up was down a steep grassy bank. There was one toilet block open but water had to be got from a tap in a sink, the Elsan emptying point was locked so I had to empty down a toilet bowl. At no time during our stay was anything on site open including reception. Totally unacceptable especially at £24 a night. Maybe the site inspectors should visit during the winter for sites that are so called open all year.

Not for us.

We visited in early July with two grandchildren aged 10 and 7. It was soon very clear that touring campers are low down the priority list. This is a campsite dominated by fixed tents, static vans and chalets. Tourers are fitted in here and there. The facilities are very attractive for families and I am sure given decent weather many do not leave site. Our boys enjoyed the lake and beach and to a lesser point the all singing/dancing pool. Catering opportunities are varied and plentiful. However there lies the root of some of the problems as many young people drink a lot of alcohol and make a lot of noise late at night. We also saw British families behaving disgracefully throughout the day, sons and fathers brawling and swearing at each other very loudly. Two out of three nights we were disturbed after 11 pm. The toilet/shower facilities gave further concern. Our nearest toilet block was hopelessly inadequate and was unpleasant to use. I hiked about 800 metres to another one which was surrounded by chalets and consequently hardly used. Bizarre. We left after 3 nights and although the boys annoyed their stay we will not return.

Comment from the Club

We are really sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay. Your review has been sent to the overseas team for their feedback. They have spoken to the site who have replied below:

Bonjour,

We have many pitches and clients are usually happy and children love the campsite.

Our cleaning team washes the toilet blocks 2 or 3 times a day.

When clients do not like their pitch, we try when possible to show them another pitch on the campsite.

For future reference we have a night guard and a number to call when trouble on site.

Kind regards

Good family site but needs updating.

This was our first trip to France with the caravan. On arrival the receptionist gave us a map of the site and we were taken to our pitch. They told us where to put the van and went away, no other information about facilities was given. The pitch was at the top end of La Parc, our EHU was plugged into an extension lead which 2 other caravans shared!  There was 2 toilets nearby but often smelled so bad we couldn't use them. There was a shower block on the edge of La Parc which we used. It is a big site with plenty for the children to do. There is a good restaurant on the site, I would book when in peak season as it was very busy. The pools are ok but we spent most time at the beach area on the site. Overall a good site, pitches are hit and miss and need updating.

Nice site but very busy

This site is massive, it is covered by various camping operators and is very busy in peak season. We stay for 3 nights and were happy to move on. limited choice of pitches/ location on the site and our pitch didn't have EHC and we had to connect to a plug 3 pitches further along from us, luckily we had an extension lead.
