A little about the site:

With its beach setting on the Mar Menor Lagoon, this large, resort-style site is ideal for an active holiday. There are indoor and outdoor swimming pools, as well as a playground, boules, tennis courts, internet room, dog shower and beach volleyball, while the beach offers a range of water sports such as sailing, canoeing and windsurfing. There’s also a gym, sauna and spa treatments for adults.

On half of the site, the touring pitches are neatly arranged on gravel and surrounded by hedging which provides privacy and shade. The other half of the site has a large number of cabins for rent to tourists plus many static units used by permanent residents. First impressions when initially driving through the campsite may surprise some members as the main road goes past the permanently sited residential area before reaching the touring pitch side. The residential area has a large variety of adapted static vans which may look haphazardly built upon.

The toilet blocks are mostly in need of modernisation although they are kept very clean by the friendly site staff.

A speciality of the area is the local mud treatments, which can be booked through reception and are said to have a rejuvenating effect. Those interested in culture will enjoy a trip to the ancient port of Cartagena and the bustling city of Murcia, with its Moorish history and thriving café culture. Horse riding, golf, fitness center and bike hire are nearby.

Tourist attractions and excursions:

La Manga del mar Menor (Resort centre - 3kms), Cartagena (Roman ruins 20kms), Alicante, Caravaca de La Cruz - a major pilmigrage site, Supermarkets (Mercadona and Cabo palos at 3kms), cycling routes, Mar Menor direct access beach (safe to swim)

Winter Holiday

La Manga Winter Holiday
Our first venture abroad with our MH unfortunately after a brilliant crossing on Le Shuttle we encountered the French Farmer barricades which was a complete nightmare and really spoilt our journey through France however we arrived safe and sound at La Manga and it is definitely a marmite site love it or loath it but we loved it. We had 5 weeks in La Manga with the Rally folks and we had such a good time the folks on the rally were absolutely lovely and really made the holiday. Trish and Jimmy were the hosts (called in to cover for Judith who was poorly) and they too were lovely. You can do as little or as much as you want when with the rally group - we were restricted due to having our dog and nobody told us you need bikes at La Manga but lesson learnt and we will be packing them and a dog trolley for next visit. The facilities are a little tired but there was always hot water and they were cleaned regularly. The Spar shop was well stocked with fresh bread daily and lots of yummy pastries. We hired a car while we were there and visited several places to save us moving the motor home. Its an easy walk to the supermarkets and also to the markets held weekly close by most people used their bikes if they didn't have a car but we were content and able to walk but if you had an mobility issues you would need to ensure you had supplies. The sun shone for the duration of our 5 weeks and we could of stayed longer however the beautiful Costa Blanca beckoned for us and so we left the lovely folks behind to enjoy the rest of the holiday. None of the pools were open while we were there which was a shame as we did have good weather. The indoor pool was closed for maintenance which I appreciate needs to be done but it would of been good if this facility had been operational as it was one of the reasons I chose to go there. The restaurant was ok we only ate in their a couple of times and didn't attend any of the Rally Dinner and Dances due to our dog deciding to bark constantly when we tried to leave her so we didn't want to inflict the noise on our neighbours and were content to cook ourselves or sit outside for early tea/late lunch and keep her with us.

La Manga Winter Hosted Holiday 2023

La Manga Winter Holiday
This was the second time we have done this hosted holiday. We had a great time and we will book again. Judith and Sam are very experienced and they were really friendly, helpful and professional. We were impressed by their local knowledge. They arranged lots of fun things to join in with but there was no pressure to join in. We did quiz nights, meals with entertainment, walks, boules, film nights, coffee mornings, coach trips and there were other things going on too. We liked La Manga campsite. Our pitch was a very good size and there is a good supermarket on site. We bought really good wifi for a very reasonable price. The restaurant served good food and the menu of the day was very reasonably priced. We walked along the coast to the Cabo de Palo lighthouse. We also walked over the hills to the Mediterranean beaches. We went to Cartagena on the bus and had a very interesting day.

La Manga winter rally 2023 review

La Manga Winter Holiday
This was our first ever rally, we no idea what to expect and were concerned that we would feel obliged into joining into lots of things we didn't want to do, we shouldn't have worried, the hosts Judith & Sam allayed our fears from the outset, whilst they (and many of the other guests) organised lots of trips/activities etc. we never felt pressured to join in with anything and had a fantastic 5 week stay. Judith and Sam are absolute troupers, full of local knowledge, tips, and support (especially when we had the odd disaster) the Club are lucky to have them as hosts. We will be back.

Winter Rally Review

La Manga Winter Holiday
Please see my entry on the La Manga site entry for my views and comments on the site. This is a review of the Rally itself. This is our first experience of a Winter sun holiday rally, and it has been fantastic. The friendly rally hosts, Judith & Sam, do a fantastic job of not only organising lots of activities and events but also provide excellent communication through a variety of media - there's a facebook group, a weekly coffee morning/briefing and a rally tent, to ensure everyone knows what is going on. Some of the events, typically weekly, include: Cycle rides, walks, walking football, walking netball, boules, quiz night, craft workshop, whist. There are also excursions to the major resorts/cities in the area such as Cartagena, Benidorm, Murcia, Elche, Torrevieja and there are regular Rally Suppers and site dinner dances. Of course you can get involved as much or as little as you wish - and that's the great thing, just do the things that you're interested in. The La Manga area has a lots to offer - local towns and cities to which you can walk, cycle or drive; Beautiful countryside and beaches; Local bars and restaurants, including the on-site El Mirador. We'll be back!

La manga camc rally

La Manga Winter Holiday
I was on the rally at La Manga for my first experience of winter in Spain. The rally hosts Judith and Sam did a brilliant job of making us feel welcome and kept us busy with lots of interesting things to do. The Mar menor and salt flats were beautiful, the food from the restaurant was fantastic and great value
