It’s always a good idea to schedule in your motorhome’s annual service ahead of the peak season, as workshops can get booked well ahead of time. For habitation servicing, you can go to the Approved Workshops Scheme and find an approved workshop closest to you. If your motorhome has been kept in a storage facility, it’s worth checking with them whether they allow mobile service agents to work on your vehicle on the storage facility site, as this will make it a lot easier for you.

Always give yourself some time to do some basic DIY check ups before venturing out on the road.

  • Inspect the tyres for age, condition and pressure. This also includes the spare tyre too!

  • Examine the roadlights for functionality and for any damage.
  • Make sure that the brakes are not seized and that the handbrake functions.
  • Do routine engine checks, including fluids, battery etc.
  • If possible, try and fit in a short test run before setting off on a longer journey.

And of course, check you have good financial protection for your motorhome or campervan and make sure it is covered for the right amount so that you can replace your outfit 'if the worst happened'.
